This layout has to be the best I;ve seen. The detail, smoke stains on the overpass bridge, the aged buildings. Nothing short of a "Wow"… Awesome work..

I've watched so many model railroad videos on youtube and out of all of them, I think this is the best one. I have watched this video a gazillion times and it never gets old. For some reason, I can't stop watching it; I am absolutely in love with this layout. Amazing work. Cheers.

Love the excellent detail & realism, plus it appears to be set in the '70s, which is when I was growing up, so that makes it doubly cool to me.

I'm not a model train fan but I've got to say that this is amazing. There were times when it looks so real and I mean real. Not a model looking good but a real train passing down a real line with real trees and buildings. You guys are magicians and I'll look at models in a wholly different light now. Oh, and thank you for the video.

Really, how can people hate a man's model railroad. It's their pride that they have put many hours into. Like this if you agree.

Absolutely awesome! I worked for the Northern Pacific as a boy, then went into the Navy for six years. I returned to railroad work in this time period, working on a welding gang for the Burlington Northern in Montana. These trains are great. Thanks for putting this online.

Thank you for sharing. I like the Fruitvale division, as it adds the lake running up to an industry with the tracks running along the other side. Also the detail work on Sams Good Food restaurant, was really excellent.

Great video. Super detail. One thing I noticed that impressed me was the sun visors in the locomotive cab...tilted down to block the sunshine. Neat. As for the intermittent commentary regarding the length of this particular video, I'd say an exception is in order, considering the exceptional quality of the railroad. The Northern Pacific engine detail is amazing.

Amazing layout!!! This reminds me of the layout my Dad and I built. It was a little smaller and we worked together on the layout for ten years. It was never finished just like everyone else who enjoys the hobby. I don't care if you've had it four years or fourteen there's always something else to add on to your own little world. Im looking forward to seeing more of your layout. By the way I unfortunately had to sell the house and the couple who purchased my home also took the trains. I spent many hours and months teaching them (father and son) how to run , maintain and explain how everything worked. I kept enough track to go around my Christmas tree along with some rolling stock and a turn out and a couple of buildings. My Dad would have loved your layout.

I've just finished my lunch at Stan's, watching another very enjoyable series of train movements. My compliments to this "group", and an extra tip of my engineer's cap to the videographer. The signaling is so interesting to watch, that AmTrak station at the summit so splendidly underplayed (is it overlooked?), the color mish-mash of passenger railroading of that era -- all terrific. Now there need to be a few more diaphragms installed and communications strung between some of the telephone poles, and who could ask for more? (Well, maybe banishing the juvenile train watchers going over the moon, but then, that's the team's personality, apparently.)
