You can use a block loc 6 in ruler to cut any hst 6 in or smaller by sliding it along the seam.

Glad you did this tutorial Your squares are getting wonky because you are ironing and not just pressing Pressing is only pressing no side to side or sliding the iron. Pressing is only a up and down It DOES make a huge difference Along with finger opening and a quick light finger pres open. Hope that helps.

Check out her video. It’s the best out of the two. You’re still making four cuts if you count cutting dog eats.

First time viewer! Really enjoyed . I did see some snarky comments, but you have that with some quilters. Great job!

If you buy the 6.5” bloc loc you get anything from 1” to 6.5”

I like bloc loc because it straightens the seams every time. It takes the “wonk” out of them without trying.❣️🌹

Could the slots cause the trimmer to be more fragile? I think just peeling it off the cardboard could cause it to break if it is very thin.

Th blocloc can slide on your fabric so the you can use the 61/2”. Ruler to make way smaller ones . So you don’t necessarily need a whole collection of them 8n different sizes.

Block lock can be moved to the size you need with the 6 “ just move it to two and half

You should be informed about the rulers before you compare them. Watch the Bloc Loc videos so you give people the correct information about how to use them. You can use the 6 inch bloc loc to do any size from 1- 6 inch. They are wonderful rulers.

Agreed! Plus with the Bloc Loc you can do all the in between sizes with just one ruler. With Clearly Perfect you have to get two separate rulers for 1/4" and 3/4" sizes. And they're expensive!

I have both types of rulers and prefer the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmers.

Reading the instructions prior to your presentation would really speed the video up and make you sound like a credible quilter.

Plus she missed the whole point of sewing 6 or 7 together into a ”picket fence” shape and trimming them all at once. Google the product name and check out inventor’s YT videos.

I’m a fan of the slotted measurements and the dog ear trim For cutting the little squares I have learned that using a smaller diameter rotary blade helps so much my smaller came with the same mat and 2-1/2 square. But..... I’m gonna get a package of non-slip gripping dots. Alt the biggest tip To tape mark the line on your ruler When doing the same repetitive cutting I’m a fan of that narrow 1/8th inch neon glow tape found in the quilting notions. It’s reusable a few times. But like most quilters... you’re most likely to have a comfort size and probably won’t need to move your tape line. It’s next best thing to the block lock Yup old clothing is wonky to see with especially when being on the bias I’m sure if you would have pulled on the grain it wouldn’t have been to stretchy. Old clothing may be perfect for making orange peel windows - ... I know that’s not the right description but it’s middle of the nigh.

Technically you are making 4 cuts with the slotted trimmers by having to cut the two dog ears. ツ

Other demos that I have seen with the block lock and the other one they push the ruler to the edge and just make the other one cat and one cat they don’t they don’t cut all four sides they cut too why don’t you try wanna see what happens

Thanks for this it was really good to see someone use them for the first time. Often the manufacturers show demos by people who've used them a lot so you can't pick up on whether the product is intuitive to use, or more importantly not! They both look good so I'm still undecided, perhaps once you've used them more you could do the timed thing you suggested, and also measure them so it's a bit more scientific (although I think they'll prove your instincts correct - Bloc loc for accuracy and slotted for speed as well as multiple uses, flexibility and therefore value for money). It'd also be good to hear how they sew up - does cutting the dog ears make much difference? Or is it another step that could be omitted for speed? Thanks again.

You press WAY TOO HARD when ironing, that fabric once cut becomes bias
