@@raghe9456 I think also due to it being the original Bloc Party/Union - with no Matt/Gordon around in the band anymore it's kind of not the same Bloc anymore I guess. I've seen the new Bloc lineup live and really enjoyed it - but I'd sure as hell love to see the original lineup back at some point.
@kifkennedy3 жыл бұрын
I've probably watched this video hundreds of times, I love this version. The instrumental goes on for a while so you'd expect that when the vocals come in they would be delivered in a way that expressed some pent up emotion - but Kele just speaks them in way that comes across as completely detached, which is so appropriate for the subject matter of the song and ultimately makes it more emotionally impactful for the listener, not less. Sounds like the lyrics are a little different, too. This is what I'm hearing, starting at 2:12 - "And we sit, and we sigh, and nothing gets said, another day, another day, and nothing happens either way, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's all wrong, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright" Bloc Party is such a special band.

Whoever it was, even if it was just "some suit" or a "producer," whoever it was that encouraged them to work on this until it became what we have on the record was very smart and thoughtful to do so. The album version is (I think) one of their best songs.
