I get it, he’s older now and therefore less self-conscious, but it’s incredible to see him carry a 35 minute video when, as an ultra-fan of the group, I swear I didn’t hear his voice even once until like 2007.

That pedalboard is huge, I can't believe there isn't any tone suck as many pedals and cable there are.
@Thevitamindealer8 жыл бұрын
alot of that has to do with his signal chain, if it is set up right then there won't bet any noticeable tonal difference. in my personal experience at least.
@Thevitamindealer8 жыл бұрын
I'm just stating my personal opinion, there are no absolutes in music imo sir. If your signal chain is optomised for the outcome you are going for it will sound better than if you just plug things in in whatever order you want and use beat up or ineffective patch cables.. you can also bolster your tone by using certain pedals at the beginning and at the end of your signal chain, namely a compressor at the beginning and a noise gate at the end. I'm not trying to argue by the way, my perpose for this comment is to inform people who might be interested and stumble opon this comment, there are many configurations and perposful pedals that in my opinion will troubleshoot way things like tone suck, or a signal chain that can seem really complex. Most of the time there are solutions to problems that keep people from trying intimadating or unconventional routes in guitar tone exploration, if we don't explore different approaches then we can never find solutions that might benifit guitar players as a whole.
@DReidGuitars8 жыл бұрын
boss pedals have buffers in them. one buffer at the start, middle or end of the chain will counter tone suck.

Maybe he's shy? For most of the band's early career Russell appeared to be rather camera-shy (very few vids of him actually speaking, and even when he did, he mostly hid behind that absurdly-long fringe). I'm actually pleasantly surprised to hear him speak on camera for as long as he does in this interview. Dude was always cooking up some interesting stuff on guitar. Big difference in temperament now.
@stewartplays2 жыл бұрын
LMAO, he’s the shyest man in the universe. Obviously, he’s opened up a lot in recent years, but as a shy man myself, I can promise you that he works at it constantly. The fact that he was able to carry this video so well was pretty incredible to me, honestly, because I’ve been a fan of this group since before their first album was even announced and do not remember him speaking even once publicly until the touring of their second album.

I managed to grab a new, ex display Boss SL-20 Slicer myself a couple of months ago for less than half the price they were going for. Judging by my experience of trying to find one I think I probably bought the last one in any shop's stock, I'm not sure if it's discontinued but if you see a used 1 going anywhere, buy it!! Calling it a tremolo pedal doesn't do it justice, it's more of a rhythm generator and you can create some great rhythm tracks and loops with it. I own more pedals than I care to remember but the Slicer is 1 of my favourites, I love it 😆👍
