dont need no stinkin 2 part rebar injection! Great technique, the rebar actually gets harder to pull out as the weight of the blocks and beam presses on top. I finally figured out why you needed some fill in the back side, it supports the cinder block side of rebar from breaking out. brilliant !!!

What if the cinder block is hollow you didn’t mention what you would put in would then be good for reinforcing a garage wall?
@MikeHaduck4 жыл бұрын
Every situation is different but I would probably fill it with cement, thanksmike
@MMGJ105 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the way Mike did it and what he did will work perfectly fine, but i always use hollow core block, then drill into the floor and get two rods coming up and fill it solid as I go. I pin it into the existing block the same way though, with angling the rebar except I drill half inch holes and pound in half inch rebar tightly. (Inspectors will make you use an epoxy to glue it in. Not a bad idea but not really necessary... don't tell them that though lol) Fill everything solid and pin it in every other course and it'll never go anywhere.
@ishowyouapple5 жыл бұрын
What would you do up top where it meets the steel beam?
@dukeman75955 жыл бұрын
Inspectors? We don't want no stinking inspectors..
@MMGJ104 жыл бұрын
@@ishowyouapple You can just lay a solid block on the top course. Grout and fill everything up to that point.
@MMGJ104 жыл бұрын
@@ishowyouapple Or, in this case, since the beam is only over one cell of the block you could cut the middle web out of the block, and grout the whole top block. That way you could get a short piece of rebar down from the top tying the top block into everything underneath. If you get what i'm saying.

A common sense solution, once again. No need to go crazy with it. Why do something expensive like weld in an additional I beam when the block will do the job for much cheaper?
