This Bitgold idea is ignorant. It reintroduces the problem of trust. Now we should trust that the issuer of Bitgold actually holds the Gold behind the token you buy. And what happens if the gold gets stolen? This is the entire reason that you should either reintroduce gold in coins or let bitcoin assume that role if the people want it.
