I have a thought you need to dig the little bit deeper 18 in and put in French well piping so the water seeps back down instead of up and backfill with gravel I don't know whether it would work but I was just thinking about it anyway I hope your friend has good luck with his home.

You said that no one knows where the drains go to. Wouldn't it be nice if, when a house was built or had additional drains, etc. put in, that the home would come with schematics of every drain, pipe, wires and so on (the papers to be kept with the house no matter how many times it was sold). It would be wonderful for the owners to know these things instead of having to search for where whatever goes where. Like, when I bought a house, I didn't know there was a crawl space under the bathroom or how to get into it until a plumber found it when my hot water pipe froze some years later.

So how many gallons per min does that pump put out?? How big is your reserve tank?? I'm assuming it exceeds the pressure from more home spigots. But how long can you run it on average before you deplete your reserve tank?

I didn't think there would be a gravel pit when the creek is so close. So much easier just to run a pipe to the bank. Love the detective work you have to do to solve these mysteries.
@tbelding
@tbelding 2 жыл бұрын
Weirdly enough, some places throw hissy fits if you have a direct drain to a water way. I had a neighbor who had (like a lot of people in that area) a pipe that drained into the road ditch. They mowed the ditches, noticed the drain, and threw an absolute hissy fit, demanding that everything had to go into the septic system or straight on the ground - nothing to the ditch directly.
@petet968
@petet968 2 жыл бұрын
@@tbelding Was that in Queensland?
@tbelding
@tbelding 2 жыл бұрын
@@petet968 - Nope. In the US. Just using it as an example as to how you don't know HOW stupid the local authorities might be. Think about it - it's fine to drop water on the ground to run into the ditch, but you can't run it directly into the ditch. That's the local regulation for that area.
@petet968

@@tbelding Just to show how stupid some people can be, we look at a piece of property where everything was fine drainage wise until a fellow built a house on it with a shitload of impervious surface area. The guy collects the runoff from all that, that used to percolate into the aquifers and now thinks it is OK to dump all that onto his neighbors property and let him deal with the damage, hassle and expense. Amazing. Now to show just how stupid the fellow is, he can't understand why his yard floods now that all his up-hill neighbors are doing the same thing.

In some areas here where they flood to much or high like his did. They make them put down pilings and build homes on them ( because the home is washed away ) or if the home is still there they lift the home and put pilings under it. Maybe he should lift his home or fix and sell it.
