That happened to me, called the UK's biggest drain cleaning company when the drains were blocked, he jetted right into the downstairs loo, that was a pain in the arse (wasn't sitting on it... we used the downstairs loo to store books, every bloody one soaked!)

Do you have the option of foaming glyphosate through the pipes? I know some municipalities do that as preventative maintenance to kill the roots in the pipes before they cause a blockage.

People wonder why plumbers charge so much, it's because they spend half that time trying to dig and find the boundary trap covers that you have covered! So don't cover the drain covers and even better, keep the area clean around it, the sooner they get access, the sooner they finish and your wallet will be better for it.........that and the faster they get more videos out ;)
