Kind sir, could you help explain why most(all?) residences we see in your vids have: 1) About a meter of concrete slab protruding off the foundation base? And ... 2) A continuous white line near the edge of this short slab? Are these required by building codes in your regions? The self-venting gullies are an interesting design. Don’t they give off unattractive odors to garden/yard areas in the proximity? Thanks from northeast USA, enjoying your content a lot. And that toad funeral was quite moving, heartfelt, great job.
@penetratorblockeddrains3 жыл бұрын
Hello and glad your enjoying the content. 1) all those new houses have concrete. I guess it’s so you have some where to walk. 2) not sure about the white line and which video. But they could just be decorative. Those gullies have to be charged by a water source. Possibly give of a smell if they get really clogged. But they are a design installation for plumbing. If the council main is to block the sewer should over flow from the gully and not go into the persons house if the gully is installed to the correct height and standard.

Oh yes, tree roots are a huge problem with pipes. Especially old ones. People who try to build fish ponds too close to trees get problems with roots very quickly. Especially willow trees. They can be far off and still cause a problem with roots because they seek out water. If there is moisture you can bet roots will seek out the pipes. Especially willow trees.
@ghost3073 жыл бұрын
Our town has a law that you're not allowed to plant willows to protect the water mains and the sewers.

Shattered drain tile also then the basement wall starts falling in e.t.c. fun stuff. The best part impossible to get an excavator into the back yard!!! All had to be done by hand.
@cambuxton68353 жыл бұрын
Oh heck yeah roots are quite destructive if left unchecked. We ban willow trees these days not because of the roots though. We get a lot of big storms and weak trees like willows get uprooted and topple over on people too much. But trees like eucalyptus are also banned because they tend to suddenly drop massive branches.
@olstar183 жыл бұрын
Especially considering some of the 'pipes' that were used in the past. I used to have a root problem and had to call the plumber out to clear the pipe several times till I had that section dug up and replaced. Turned out the sewer line wasn't actually a pipe but more like those curved clay tiles people sometimes put on their roof set in the ground for the sewage to flow through.
@michaelm.19473 жыл бұрын

Would vinegar do the same thing? I use it on weeds above the ground and it kills them right away!
@TexasScout2 жыл бұрын
@@cherylmack1260 he idea of the rock salt is for it to dissolve slowly over time. Vinegar would just flow right past the roots, while the salt crystals would get tangled up in the roots.
