I was beginning think to Ratty had gone into Management, Just showing up when the job was finished. 😁 Ouch! A job beyond Ollie's range sounds expensive. That root must have been in the pipe for quite sometime. Pity folk don't have their pipework inspected more often, could save a lot of money in the long term.

I'm in the central US and had my house main line done over with the burst method. worked very well and was done in a few hours. It worked very well, and was done in a few hours.
