I watch drain addict and penetrator in Australia and seen them cut a piece of 2"x1"timber in half with that type of nozzle and is used to trim roots from cracked drains Tony.

As your Australian brethren would say at the end - its "All Bad". Let the customer know, if he calls you back for the repair, then he gets a tenner off the price if he makes you a Yorkshire tea. Something tells me his wallet is in for a serious hammering unless his insurance covers the dig up. Those small rectangular pieces of slate resting on the top corners of that access chamber looked a bit of a dodgy bodge though, one of them fell in the drain that you pulled out - I think they were there to act as packing pieces to raise the cover up to the level height of the surrounding patio, but it was done badly and they ended up falling in the drain as they were not fixed on well enough.

china stuff is most of the time simply pressed instead of machined. its a lot cheaper but wont be as durable performance should be very similar if the rest is simply copied. if its worth it is a thing to see in the future cost/durability. just a professional usually doesnt save money by buying cheaper stuff, you save money by better durability, performance, usability and support
