@KorpenXIX The only thing people seem to want is more power even though we now they have sport bike motors around 1000cc that are pushing 200+hp 100+ftlbs of torque. While a 114, 1868ccs are rated at 100hp 119ftlbs.

@@Bigjohn2121 Sadly true in some cases, and I have owned those bikes, even own a 1000cc sport bike right now sitting around 180hp, I ride that one less then I do my 800cc 90hp bike though, just more comfy power for the road. Did also have an 1800cc Harley not too long ago, just stupid size of an engine in my mind, but was also real comfy for long distance travel.

Motorcycle sales have been down ever since the recession in 2008. Numbers have never recovered ever since then regardless of manufacturer. With most of them increasing their prices I don't see more people buying bikes unfortunately
@marcoantoniogarcia38

That’s in the US because bikes are seeing as a weekend hobby and not also a daily commuter like in other countries. Also it doesn’t help that in most of the country you cannot lane split and have to ride as if you’re in a car in the city which is really dumb and take away one of the biggest advantages of riding over driving in big congested cities.
@kschantz
@kschantz 3 ай бұрын
@@marcoantoniogarcia38 I ride my Chief to work almost every day. I hate lane splitters. It's dangerous and it makes auto drivers hate motorcyclists even more. I've had to use that space a couple of times to get our from behind a couple of morons riding each other's quarter panels, but straight up lane splitting? Never.
@marcoantoniogarcia38
@marcoantoniogarcia38 3 ай бұрын
@@kschantz That’s something very US American to say. Driver’s hate you, why? It’s not as if you’re skipping the line in front of them, they won’t arrive any earlier if you don’t pass them, on the contrary, if you take the space of a car and stand behind them you’re going to make the traffic even worse. In Europe, Asia, Latin America… no auto driver is going to hate you for lane splitting because most two wheels riders do that and there’s a lot more two wheels on the road then in the US, so it’s just something normal. Besides, there’s nothing worse than sitting in traffic on a motorcycle, in the rain it’s even worse. About the danger part, yes, it can be kinda dangerous, but riding is dangerous anyway, just be careful.

I am a big fan of both Harley Davidson and Indian, I believe having the two brands exist in competition with each other is ultimately great for the consumer as it pushes the quality of both brands bikes to a new level, just look at the latest models, tech that would rival European bikes and more performance than ever before. I just traded in a 2013 ultra classic and a 2005 Wide Glide for a new Roadmaster. I couldn’t be happier. In the Open market, everyone should want companies with competitive products to stay relevant … because it helps with competitive pricing … if Indian goes away.. then Harley can start pricing creeping because there is no competition to compare prices too and keep them in check. I’m definitely not saying it’s happening, but you can’t judge a company’s viability on the amount of money spent on an event like this. I worked for a rail car manufacturer back in the 80’s. They sent a bunch of efficiency experts down to our plant for a couple of weeks. About a month later the company invested several millions of dollars upgrading the computer systems and many things on the production system. About 2 months after this was done they started laying people off which always seemed to happen around the presidential election time for some reason and had happened that way for 50 years. But this time was different, they laid everyone off and completely shut down operations at the plant permanently, and eventually the plant was sold. I asked a union rep why a company would come in and spend millions of $$ on a plant and then just shut it down. He said that’s been done many times by many companies and they do it for a tax write off. So you can never really tell. I learned from that to always buy at least one share of stock in a company I had an interest in. By owning one share of stock you get info as a shareholder that gives you the real insight into a company’s health. If shareholders aren’t making money , look out. It’s all about them being kept happy.

I know they're sold worldwide just like HD but I dunno, I just figured big heavy American bikes wouldn't be popular at all in Europe. I absolutely love my Indian Challenger - best all around bike I've ever owned... though I miss my FTR and want to get one again. Anyone who says Indian is dying simply hasn't ridden them. They're giving HD tons of competition, and that's the best thing for all of us - both companies doing well means they both have to keep making better and better bikes to keep up.

Just my opinion but I think Indian tries to copy the bikes that Harley makes in style. Only a couple that I would consider buying but I can’t afford more than one at a time. I agree that it’s good to have competition to keep things evolving but prices don’t seem to stop.

good video. I got a question. Do you carry on helmet or do you have to check it? Looks like you took your own helmets. Never flow before. Not afraid. But my only worry is the whole logistics to the whole thing

To be frank, if it does die again, the trademark will just be bought by another manufacturer or venture capital group just like the last few times they went out of business.

The brand name has value based on the original history. Polaris bikes are just that with a private label.

Seemed like a wonderful trip . If I could I would add a week or two to motor around Europe. That’s a dream.. For Amanda if her health issues were digestive related I humbly suggest getting a bottle of Just Thrive probiotic. It does not require refrigeration. Might seem a little pricey but it works . Give it a try ! Not sponsored I just use it ! Also I really appreciate that as a mostly Harley channel you include other brands . I like many brands of motorcycles and Harley Davidson and Indian are two of my favorite brands.

Why aren't anyone talking about the late 90's/early 2000 "Indian" with the S&S EVO engines?

Yeah they’re grabbing a bigger share of the market - in Europe. Not so in North America! 🤷🏼‍♂️

Had the same question! Apparently a large amount of Indian Motorcycle riders formed around this part of Europe b/c law enforcement in the area nearly a century ago decided to use Indian as part of their fleet bikes. Since law enforcement used it, the public started buying Indian Motorcycles as well, and the community just kind of started growing from there!

Probably in order to showcase their product and not die. For the sake of expanding the market on another continent. Japanese do it for decades, hence why they are so successful. There's a whole world outside US 😊
