Yes that’s a pretty peppy beast right there. I would still put a stock new scout against that and be fairly confident in the scout. Given the run needs to go past 90mph. Where the chief just can’t keep going (I know it pulls for longer but it runs out of legs about there )

I have the super Chief Limited and am very happy with it! I like how the extra weight keeps me planted on the road passing 18 wheelers. The thunderstroke has to be one of the best looking motors ever. It is plenty fast for me and very comfortable.

Scout Classic... add a fairing with a tall windshield, saddlebags and a sissy bar for extra luggage. I'd take it any day over the Chief. At 5 ft I'd probably still have to bring the handbars and foot controls back some to reach comfortable.

Very true for someone your size ! They do sell shorter pegs for both but 5foot on a chief is not the most comfortable. It’s too wide.

I just got a 2020 Twenty Bobber last month. I do not do much tour riding anymore as being 63 and 5'5" in height. I did have to change the seat and put floor boards on them. I love the HP and it is really fast. Way faster than the last Harley I had. Good Vid.

BTW, torque in the USA is calculated in pound/feet, not foot/pounds. Common mistake. In any event, 120 lb/ft is a lot, even for a heavy Chief.

Great video man. I've owned a scout bobber for the last 5 years and recently rode a sport chief. Fully agree that the down low torque of the chief can be deceiving. It feels great, especially in sport mode but I didn't like (and was not used to) the bike not really revving out with the lower redline. The 116 also seemed to get way hotter than my scout motor ever has. The characteristics of the motor on the chief is totally opposite of the scout, which revs way higher and the torque increases as you get closer to redline. I did enjoy the stability of the chief but overall being at 5'5", the scout just fits me better and I enjoy the water-cooled motor much more.

Thanks for the informative reviews of both bikes! I'm leaning towards the Chief now since comfort is my main concern. Now the only problem is my local Indian Dealership in Fort Lauderdale closed a few months ago. You are very welcome, I would still suggest giving them a sit or test ride. Some poeple have a different leg to torso ratio which could make all the difference. I have had people being 6'2" riding a scout. They are usually shorter legs and taller torso if that makes sense at all.

@NostalgicMotorcycles
@NostalgicMotorcycles 21 күн бұрын
Not sure. I’m not the right person to ask I haven’t ridden anything cross country. I don’t really have a point of reference. But you can take anything cross country it will make it. Just a matter of does it have what you need to be comfortable. I would need to change the screen height if possible. I think the seat would be fine. Maybe a back rest. I think the body position is wide and comfortable perfect for longer rides. It feels very relaxed to sit on. Longer more constant speeds it’s better than the scout for sure.

@NostalgicMotorcycles
@NostalgicMotorcycles Ай бұрын
@@a99miata I understand what you’re saying but these are cruisers not tourers. They have touring commodities. But a tank size doesn’t make the difference. Back in the day bikes with 20mpg needed 5 gallon fuel tanks to get 200 mile range. These bikes are doing the same distance with smaller tanks yet the range is the same. You can’t miss the whole picture. Do you care about the touring range or the physical size of the tank. The actual tourers chieftain and challenger have bigger tanks. But less fuel economy. They go the same distance. It’s not about the tank size anymore. Not sure if that makes sense. I rode the 101 last week and got 46 mpg I rode 60 miles with 1/8th of a tank it was ridiculous. A 5 gallon tank on that bike adds weight makes it bigger for no reason. People don’t want to ride 400 miles on a motorcycle tank of fuel. Sounds nice but the average person won’t use it.

I don't wanna be a Snitch...... But if the windscreen was doing its job,.... your T-shirt shoulders Should not have been ruffled by the wind... ever during this filming So it's either a double-take,with you riding a naked , during the filming..... and a bike with a windscreen for sales purposes on others. That Said .....HP = work / time ...... aka. it's the effort / rate ..... So 100 # ft x 3000 rpm / 5252 = HP ,,..... so that would be 57 hp.. minus losses so say 52 hp..... on the Scout-69 .... at 5252 rpm ..... then HP = Torque = 100 Hp My point being , the only time HP = Torque is at 5252 rpm. ..... so if the bike makes 78 ft-lbs at 3000 rpm and is constant through to say 6500 rpm. when the limiter kicks is.... 6000 rpm x 78 / 5252 = max HP - losses.. which gives about 89 - losses would be about 83 hp on the Scout 60 So the scout 60 at 78 hp , maxed out would be ~~ 83 Hp tops . The Scout 69, by the same factor would be 103, or thereabouts. As for the decision ,..... by all measurements ,... either of the Scouts are needy bikes ....... needing to get up into the higher revs to get any HP ..... around 4200 + rpm's to get power. ... Some re-vamping is needed here obviously I digress I will stick with my Bolt Stay Safe

@@Yamahog what 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️. The windscreen does not stop wind from existing around you. It blocks the force of wind hitting you directly. That creates a low pressure area behind out causing wind movement. You feel it in your arms and around your body but it’s not directly on you. You’re still moving fast lmaoo. I’m confused about what your actually trying to get at and why you’re talking about the scout 60.
