These are just what Indian needed a mid sized motorcycle. I am currently a Harley owner (please don't hold that against me). The 116 Indian engine is a work of art, the prettiest motorcycle engine I've ever seen, and I've been riding since 1964. I test drove a Chief Vintage on my birthday a few years back and loved the bike, but it is too big and too heavy for me, so are the big Harleys. I owned two Heritages which fit me. The Scout has plenty of power but physically it seems too small because I always ride with my wife. This new Indian Super Chief Limited is EXACTLY what I've always wanted from Indian and I would buy one in a heartbeat if I could. Unfortunately my wife's cancer has spread to her brain causing her to have seizures. She has battled cancer seven times, but when it caused seizures she was afraid it might cause me to have an accident, hurting us and maybe others, so we bought a trike. We feel if she has a seizure while we are on the trike I'll be able to pull over and tend to her needs. Great Bike Indian, and I wish Indian motorcycles well in the future. I believe Harley Davidson is making some huge financial mistakes right now and will be in the next few years which will make way for many new Indian motorcycles sales. Ride safely and enjoy every journey.

I'm really happy Indian made a line of bikes to compete with the softails. I also love that the bikes remind me somewhat of the cruisers Victory was making, while retaining its Indian heritage. Not to mention the tech that this bike comes with, while remaining competitively priced.

Loved my 17 Roadmaster, but test rode the Super Chief Limited at both Daytona and Thunder Beach. Actually sold my RM and am picking up my new super chief 116 in a week. I downsized due to my age, bad knees and the fun of riding the new 116. My Roadmaster was awesome, but a big girl, stage 1 and 2, was a hard decision to let her go.....

love the clean windscreen without all annoying brackets running midpoints.Question - is it better then HD heritage softtail which does look gorgeous IMO best looking HD
@acethedisturbed3 жыл бұрын
I have a 2019 Heritage and... I dunno. Define better. They're pretty damn comparable. I haven't ridden a Chief but I feel like you'd have to get out on both and see what you like better. The HD 114 has less torque but more horsepower and is oil cooled. I want to say it's cheaper too. The HD has locking bags which is nice, and I'm pretty sure the monoshock is better. The Indian has that display, but only on the more expensive ones. Harley has nothing like it unless you buy one of the big baggers. If they'd put the Challenger engine in these guys it would be no question Otherwise, I feel like it's a question of "which one do you like better?"

i demo'd the new base Chief this past weekend. i'm a total noob. just got my endorsement in december, still shopping around for first bike. i tested the FTR and scout bobber too. your feedback on the throttle is interesting because i had the complete opposite experience. while i liked the ergo (much better than the scout), i felt the throttle was unresponsive and sluggish. i even tried sport mode. i just could not work with it to do some smooth engine breaking. weird part was that i was completely comfortable on the FTR S with its electronic throttle, and i could also downshift and rev match on the scout. not sure what the issue was with the chief. it was pretty disappointing. but the FTR more than made up for it. new dream bike! anyways cheers and keep up the great work.

I have a scout that I've upgraded to essentially be a stock Chief now (minus the amazing dash and 116 engine of course). Had I known this was coming I would have not invested so much into my scout and saved the money to upgrade to the Chief. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my scout, the Chief just looks that amazing. I'm very very tempted for sure.

In my part of the world, there isn't any independent mechanics who have any experience with Indian, whereas there's quite lot of Harley expertise that covers Sportsters, Evos, Twin Cams & Milwaukee 8. Furthermore, the best Harley deals are in used bikes (especially 103 Twin Cam models), and there's virtually no choice of used Indians, so then you're looking at new prices. Nothing wrong with the Indian, but I just can't afford a new one. Nice bikes though. In the meantime, my 103 Softail Slim is a treasured possession.

@@3dee106 Fairings are easy. I would be more concerned with the weight of the bike as fairings keep the wind off of the rider but the weight of the bike keeps it stable in crosswinds.

Closest Indian model to my liking so far, considering I haven’t seen one yet that saying something. So many things done right. Only things I see odd at a distance are; -4 gallon gas tank, I have range anxiety and always want more range, especially once I would start use the stage 2 power. -where’s the chrome wheels and front end? If I’m popping for the chrome engine they should know I want chrome everything. The added cost to the bike would be small compared to buying them separately and paying for installation. Pulse it would likely get me to open my wallet quicker. Looking forward to checking one out this year.
