Good lord the talent you have working with leather and making saddles your incredible. How long on average does it take you to make a saddle start to finish? guessing ??

Depends on how much tooling, but I’d guess 40 hours? I’ve never really “timed it”! There’s a lot of dry time that you have to just walk away from the task, until it’s dry enough to do the next step!

Do you think you could show a up close of the nails you use and where do you buy your saddle making supplies?
@DavidMillsSaddlery Жыл бұрын
These nails, which I use quite a lot of, are a 3D galvanized from Home Depot or any hardware store! I also keep some 2” and 2 1/2” galvanized handy, although they’re only used to nail the top of the skirts to the inside of the gullet! There are many places I get supplies from, it may be easier to tell me what you’re looking for…

@@DavidMillsSaddlery I'm looking for saddlery nails because I do alot of repair work and I can't find nails small enough to replace the old nails that I take out from the old saddles

I’m not sure what you’re referring to as far as saddlery nails? Maybe the sharp point square shanks
@kelseyjames5119 Жыл бұрын
@@DavidMillsSaddlery no, there small nails that are like thumb tacks. If you look at a old western saddle you can see that they hold the leather to the tree of the saddle. Hope this explains what I'm talking about.
