That's a lovely wall. Good to see it done by a pro

Interesting video Sam . I noticed in your other videos you single course the block on flat , but on this 13 inch wall you have the block on flat wall double course . In Ireland we double course the block on flat all the time .it makes it easier to bond in the pillars .

Thanks! So we double coursed the block on flat here so we could tie it in with the block on edge, when doing the double course of block on flat do you line for both courses or just the top of the double block on flat?
@brickbybric2 жыл бұрын
@@SamDaviesBuilder you’d have the line up the 2 courses that’s the way you would be trained .

Ah yea, that's the best way. I have seen people just have a line for the top of the two courses and put the two in at once, but to me there's too much room for error without the line on the first course!

I love looking at your work. You do a great job. But looking at it from the head cam would give me a pain in my head..

One I missed buddy. What is this sort of block laying configuration for? With the ones laid on edge then one laid normally next to it?

This was to avoid filling the cavity with concrete below ground, it was easier in this instance to do this rather than fill the 100mm cavity with concrete (you fill the cavity with concrete to the last but one block of top of slab level). You can also buy trench blocks to do this so you're just laying one big block - I am editing a video on this at the moment

Perfect video for an upcoming garden project Sam!! When I’ve done some simple brickwork in the past, I’m convinced it was my mortar mix that wasn’t right. Every bricklaying video I watch, the mix looks nice and creamy to work with. How do you do it Sam?
@SamDaviesBuilder Жыл бұрын
Glad the video could be of help to you! I have a couple of videos on how to mix mortar on my channel if you want to take a look, its all in just giving it enough time to mix and knowing when to/when not to add water. The mixing videos should help you!
