Blockley 10 bell ring down full

The 2 bells nearest the camera (which are the lightest, numbers one and two of the ten) were the new ones installed in 2017. The tenor (10, centre) was recast in the same year. On the right, the north side of the tower, 8 & 9, were cast in 1638. Even counting No10 at just 6 years old, though the metal is much older, the combined age of the bells is 2,024 years.

I love how they keep singing for a good 30sec after the last strike of the hammer. I tell our American visitors that the Brits took over New Amsterdam in 1664 and renamed it New York. The population then was around 2,000 which is the size of our village of Blockley today; our 2 oldest bells were then already 26 years old and have been ringing ever since!

yes youre right the trebles and tenor are newer they are john taylor as well as the frame 5th and 6th are matthew bagley 8th and 9th are henry bagley 6th is abraham rudhall tenor is 17-0-6cwts
