@@u.canthinkpositively I apologize for what I wrote a month ago earlier, perhaps I was a bit off-balance when I wrote that. And I don't see right now what I responded to, perhaps that triggered me somehow. Anyway, the evidence for evolution is absolutely overwhelming, there are mountains of evidence for humans being part of evolution from common origin. This means, unfortunately, that a lot of religions have been proven false: All religions that claim humans were separately created. I understand the evidence, so therefore I understand that evolution from common origin is true. It doesn't have anything to do with authorities like Dawkins or any kind of feelings or social needs, it's just understanding of facts.
@jesan733
@jesan733 7 ай бұрын
@@u.canthinkpositively sure, among the mountains of evidence for human evolution, we have the genetic evidence where we can see how genes have been copied along an evolutionary tree. For instance, we have the fused chromosome two in humans that are two chromosomes in apes, but where the fused chromosome in humans retains remnants of an extra middle and extra "ends" within the chromosome. We also have e.g. endogenous retrovirus genome remnants, where we can see how some such extra material has been inserted before we split from various common ancestors, and some after. There's literally millions of such evidences in our DNA. We can also use the same molecular clock analysis to estimate time since lineages split, that also works for other species and with subspecies. Other evidence involve vestigial features, like the grasp reflex in babies, serving no function anymore but is very useful for ape babes to hold on to the mother's fur while she has both hands free for climbing in trees. We also have remnant muscles that can move our ears slightly, that in some monkeys are used to direct the ears toward sound. Then we have common flaws, like the recurrent laryngeal nerve that due to evolutionary history takes a bad detour from the brain around the heart and then back to our larynxes, introducing a signalling delay and a slight vulnerability. Then we have fossil evidence of human evolution. All these lines of evidence can be expanded upon and each contains huge amounts of separate proofs.

But many of the world's leading scientists and philosophers of science are saying precisely that science does lend support to metaphysical naturalism. This includes Subboor's own source such as Puggliucci and Ruse. If this is in Subboor's opinion, 'misuse', then why is Subboor pretending to speak on behalf of the 'academic understanding'? Why doesn't he admit that he is instead challenging a widely held academically respectable point of view?

You must not have listened to the video. Appeals to authority (big scientists believe X) or appeals to majority (most believe Y) are fallacies. The whole episode is about why prevailing ideas are flawed. Ironically, that’s what happens in scientific paradigm shifts. One minute everyone believes in one theory, then cracks form, and then people realize they were wrong. I’m not even gonna touch the absurd idea that “science” makes metaphysical claims. Do you even know what you’re talking about?

One of the biggest drawbacks of evolution is that it fails to explain why we don’t see evidences of evolution on other planets i.e the potential for life on other planets to originate and adapt to their unique conditions, which is from inorganic to organic (not yet proven)and than develop by adapting to that planet’s unique conditions and as complex as our planet earth.

But in the Quran Allah created Adam from Mud, so it's basically saying that Humans who are living creatures originated from inorganic/inanimate material. I think the Quran hints at the Abiogenesis. The start of Life from inorganic material. There also another verse that talks about how Allah created from water every living thing again another hint at abiogenesis. I think as,muslims we need to improve our understanding of the Quran afterall the Quran is Valid for all times, and so it could give hints or notes about future scientific theories that were not known in previous times. I personally believe the Quran has many hints about evolution the only probel the Atheists have is that they assume it all happens by chance i believe evolution happens by design.

Firstly I'm not a clever man, I'm sure if I had a debate to prove that 2+2=4 with a clever debater I would loose. Well religion can be seen as over simplistic, take Genisis, well we don't know so God did it and all in 6 days and come the 7th day he needed a rest. What God needs a rest?? Very laughable if you take things literally. The Qur'an talks about sending man to earth, so did man exist in a spiritual form before man came to earth? Chapter 21 v 30 21:30) Did the unbelievers (who do not accept the teaching of the Prophet) not realize that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart,28 and We made every living being out of water?29 Will they, then, not believe (that We created all this)? So here we have the Big Bang and the origins of life in water, which Darkins would say is true. So this was simply a lucky guess by an illerate nomadic tribesman right???? I'm old enough at nearly 70 to see how the West has been flushed into the sewer of depravity and it grieves me deeply. Allah has set man free to do and believe what ever he wants. We now have lies made to look like truth, I can decide right now im a woman, a horse whatever and the stupid godless governments of the day say freedom of expression. So can I commit a heinous crime and when brought to justice decide I'm not a human, I'm a donkey or even a 3 year old child so do t know better. Great Britain, GB, rule Britannia and all that has now become GB GODLESS BRITAIN. I will get shot for saying this but the only hope is ISLAM. The church of England has now decided God got it wrong and same sex marriage is ok. The only churches doing OK are mega churches that are all show and entertain people who think Jesus was a cool dude in a rock band. Well they killed the church but they simply swapped religion. The shopping mall is the house of worship and the Holy book is TV, radio and social media.

c. 8.53 "What are some of the assumptions?" The first claim is that Intelligent Design is dismissed as pseudo-science because it unjustifiably rules out immaterial causes. Why is the intelligence behind the design imagined to be immaterial? Because that's the conclusion the person making this argument is assuming in advance of the supposedly "scientific" enquiry! This is a prime example of just one reasons why Intelligent Design isn't considered serious science. Some of its advocates had the wit to seek to distance themselves from the idea that the designer must be supernatural. They tried hard in the US courts to make their case. They did not succeed. And here we have a fine example of why. It doesn't take much for even someone educated in the philosophy of science to slip up and give away their actual presumptions. It could have been a much shorter court case if Subboor Ahmad had taken to the witness stand only to immediately shoot himself in the foot instead of someone like Behe.

It's called the "backlash effect". Often when people have false beliefs and then get to know true information, they search for confirmation of those false beliefs and then when they learn the defenses of the false beliefs, they hold these false beliefs even more strongly than before. It's very sad. Evolution from common descent has been conclusively proven and there's mountains of evidence. You should try to learn about this evidence instead of seeking these pseudo-scientific rebuttals. Only then you will be able to find the truth and become stronger.

As Muslims we should not object to evolution per se. The issue of real contention from a theistic persepective is about unguided evolution, which neo-darwinism promotes through the concept of accidental random mutation and natural selection. However, guided evolution can be an acceptable theory and it appears to be supported by the Quran at a high abstract level. There are many supporting verses in the Quran on this phenomena. We should always be open and accepting of what science discovers but critical with how the scientific discoveries are interpreted. Atheistic neo-Darwinian evolutionary theory is only an interpretation of some scientific discoveries, such as the common genetic structure of all biological life. The Muslim world should follow Allah's instruction to discover the origin of creation by moving and researching the earth, rather than sitting still and relying on books written hundreds of years ago. We cannot discover the secrets of nature through mental contemplation and abstract level theories. We need to get into the detail and this requires a new science revolution in the muslim world. Unfortunately, most muslim resources are not prioritised on this area as we seem only able to showcase modern expensive stadiums for a football world cup for a few weeks.

Islam claims special creation of mankind from clay. We know that's wrong, and thus we know islam isn't true. Also, since we can see evidence of evolution in genomes, providing us a tree of life, why should we speculate about some kind of guided evolution? It makes little sense that god would go through billions of years of slow, tiny genetical tweaks to just make it look like evolution is true when it actually isn't.

I remember a discussion we were having in class with our Genetics Professor. He mentioned that evolutionist think species change over long periods of time via mutations that occur in the genome sequence. But my Prof. actually thought that because genetic mutations can occur in species, that’s actually proof that they can’t evolve into different new species. Mutations occur to help species with the adaptation process. It gives it a new mechanism for survival, and gives it a range of possible characteristics. There’s an experiment done on the bacteria E. coli, where it was grown under severe conditions for quite some time, and at the end of the experiment the E. coli remained E. coli. Also in organisms, like humans, when mutations occur, they effect superficial things like height and eye color, but when significant mutations occur they cause diseases, that can kill a person, which hinders the passing of “new genes” to offsprings. Sorry I’m not very articulate, Prof. explained it way better.

@@hyaakanma7179 a bacteria which can metabolise other nutrients is very much a new species. Also, there's ongoing gradual speciation right now in nature. There are thousands of such examples with various levels of hybridization potential.

Instead of denying ID what muslims should do is try to find design in every phenomenon for which we have a natural explanation. We know that rain takes place due to condensation of clouds but the design part is this 1. The distance of earth from sun is accurately sun to allow water to exist in liquid, vapour (and ice) form. 2. The atmospheric pressure us precisely set. 3. Earth size, earth mass and earth speed of roration are all parameters which need to be fine tuned so that we get the value of small g that we have today. These factors though appear are to be natural causes, but are fine tuned and intelligently designed so that earth can have oceans and rain.

The problem with a intelligent designer is that you cannot explain who/what created the intelligent designer, and secondly considering the nature of the universe the intelligent designer would have to be infinitely so complex that it would be practically impossible for such a thing to exist. The next argument against religion is that whatever evidence we have is contrary to the myth that humans evolved from Adam and Eve.
