Comparing Cleary to Joey is incorrect. He’s a different style of player. He doesn’t have the ability to break a game open the same way Joey did or Munster does and same can be said with Munster not having the ability to steer a team around a park the way Cleary could. In my opinion he’s of a similar mould of Cooper Cronk. He’s a very Elite Halfback but he’s not the guy you go to to break a game open, if anything it would be his job and strength to get the ball to players who have that ability. Cleary was playing his part as best as he could given his ability and relative to the position his team was in during the game. The problem is giving Cleary a expectation to be a type of player that he simply isn’t. If anything Luai needed to step up and be the game breaker as his halves partner.

Hence why Greg inglis played for qld while being from NSW why korbin sims was qld elegable while tariq and Ashton NSW. If so what does it matter what international team they rep. As the lines blur between eligibility and heritage for Origin I believe the NRL needs to remain strict on its selection criteria if not more so. Allowing international players to kick the footy around for either state in the name of inclusion is a little narrow sighted. Picture this, decider, Maddog Munster catches a freak case of Covid rules him out. Who gets the call - Kiwi international Jahrome Hughes. The Nrl community would miss one of the best origin debuts by a young QLDer, Dearden. I ask this, does international players inclusion make that Origin series any better? An inclusion of international players comes at the potential cost and exclusion of true blue Aussies missing any opportunity to ever represent their state or Nation.

Hughes wouldn’t be eligible because he came to Australia after the 13 year old cut off. Fixing eligibility won’t hurt origin or international footy - if anything it’ll make both games better

When the fuck has it ever come up that certain halves are only good on the front foot? or teams for that matter.Multiple times throughout every game are certain teams and halves in particular are off the back foot.. surely it's upto the halves to lead and direct the team out of " being on the back foot". Honestly never heard that expression until after game three. Also Cleary is unfairly criticized by some but in saying that the HP sports boys are on point, Cleary gets a pass.
