I wouldn't worry too much about it Chap. After watching you recreate mid-19th century paper cartridges, make a Umarex air pistol look like a real P08 Luger, and create my personal pit of despair known as the Tactitok, your pouches will probably turn out great. I'm looking forward to how this project pans out; you're 'rubbish' is usually 'pretty damned good' by anyone else's standard. ;-) (remembers a certain Hungarian gentleman claiming "I am not very good at metalwork," then proceeding to make a perfect replica of a 17th century plug bayonet out of an old machete).

IMPORTANT: BUY OR BORROW A LEATHER GLOVE THAT IS SNUG ON THE NON-DOMININT HAND AND CUT THE FINGERS OFF. This will save your hand a lot of grief.

Did you say "symmetrical"? I realize as Henry Higgins noted here in America we haven't used English in years but I do believe you meant to say "asymmetrical". Symmetrical means that one pouch can be use either on the right or left side. An example of this is the U. S. Case, Small Arms Ammunition, M57. Asymmetrical means there is a right hand pouch and there is a left hand pouch. The Pattern 08 ammunition pockets are an example of this. I wonder if King George III switched the meaning to get back at us for losing the colonies.

Erm, mate: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reflection_symmetry Those pouches very definitely exhibit reflection symmetry, since one is the mirror image of the other. Pouches can be either identical and symmetrical, or mirror images of each other and hence erm... symmetrical cos they have mirror symmetry. You could even have 2 identical pouches that, when mounted, were asymmetrical (e.g. twin pouches, small on left and big on right of each pair), but why would you want to do that?

Wot he said. Assuming a top to toe centerline on a soldier, the pouches are symmetrically arranged with regard to this centerline with mirrored features, they are thus a symmetrical pair.
