I think the biggest issue is the slow content drip for quality of life features. Its one thing to slowly add new teams and star players. But to not have pausing, re-connecting, spectator/replay, or readability adjustments is ridiculous. Sure BB2 added those features over time, but for a sizable sequel those features should be out-of-the-box imo. It seems based on their roadmap that by November the game will be in a position that frankly should be the expectation for the launch imo

From what I've seen, setting animations to 'armor breaks only' actually disables all other animations (pass, touchdown, etc). It's weird but for now you either need all animations on to see the touchdown animations.

PLEASE READ. Something this streamer has not mentioned, probably because it was not in the version he is playing is the massive microtransactions that are part of this game. I did some digging and found out they are trimming the fat with this title and turning it into a full-on micro transition hellscape.

I dunno man, I was really looking forward to the release of Blood Bowl 3, but there are so many problems with the game. Moving past the performance issue, the UI still feels like a mess, not having animations for TDs or armor breaks makes the actions less fun, everything about the game just feels slow and clunky. Somehow a game that's been delayed like 2 years past it's initial release date, feels unfinished.

One really disappointing thing about the player customization (other than having NO CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS AT ALL by default) is that unlocking a different option only lets you use that option on a single player. If you unlock a customization for your linemen, only one lineman will be able to use it and look different from all of the other, identical ones.

Finally getting to play Chaos Renegades then to find out they aren't even going to add visual mutations to the game. leaps and bounds behind BB2 - really really bad decision considering everyone knows the Blood Bowl Community physically kept this game alive for years just to get slapped in the face like we did.

I really don't like the art direction they went with for this game. It looks so drab and ugly. Blood bowl 2's models were goofy looking at times, but at least it had character and it fit the nonsensicalness of Blood Bowl. This is so unappealing to look at.

Unless I'm missing something critical, (I certainly could be) The fact that there's no physical customization of characters (beyond colors) without using in-game currency is pretty disheartening. Every unit in BB2 had at least some options to cycle through to make them at least a little different from each other.

I'm huge into the game and I'm waiting. For many of us, not being able to play a stable version against human opponents makes this a non working game. I'll happily wait for a better game. I enjoy playing bb2 and kind of glad that there will still be plenty of players there.

I started directing a friend that just got into blood bowl with real minis towards BB2, I calculated faction drops and it will take over 3 years at minimum for BB3 to match BB2 in terms of faction availability, if we trust the every 3 month a new faction promise, then add battlepass costs vs bb2 which is complete...for 30 euro..

Idk if it's your settings, but visually, the game just looks less lively. The skaven here don't really stand out from the grass enough, and the units just don't feel as animated/fun? I feel like it's missing something. I think the color palatte is trying for "gritty grimdark" rather than "exciting bloodsport" and I think that's a detriment.

So glad I requested a refund on my pre-order. That roadmap was all I needed to see. I could have forgiven the microtransactions, battlepass system and lack of customisation for units by default if the game itself was good, functional and complete. For now at least, Blood Bowl 2 is just far, far superior. Maybe Blood Bowl 3 will catch up in a couple of years, but it's not worth what they're asking for it as it stands.

My biggest issue so far has been about the lack of mutation visuals. Is it needed to play the game? No, but It helps so much to be able to not waste time looking over each and every unit looking for the right unit with tentacles to guard the ball or anything like that.

Since BB1 had all the teams and cutscenes before BB2 did, this is probably what it felt like for a lot of people when BB2 came out. I didn't start playing Bloodbowl 2 until Winter 2019, so everything was already out. :P Getting more options like being able to actually see the touchdowns while using limited-cutscenes, fixing the issues with online, adding more animations, teams and polish, BB3 could end up being better than BB2. Might even add Khorne teams to the team list. But for now though, it's like comparing a ham and cheese sandwich (BB3) to a giant club house sandwich with everything (BB2). lol I just want to play Vamps and pull off wacky plays. haha All the issues look like they can be fixed though, and the fact that the game got delayed after feedback from the Betas is a good sign that the team is receptive to fan feedback. Good news too is we all still have BB2 while BB3 becomes a tastier sandwich. I'd probably get it Summer time when a few of the issues have been buffed out. :)

Typically when you program something, most things will be slightly harder than you think, even if you are experienced and think you should know better. Sometimes people estimate even worse precisely because they have experience and think it should be easy this time. Pair that with the people with the money making key decisions based on the flawed guesses of the people with technical experience rather than the people with technical experience making the decisions directly. Then add that those decisions are very hard to change once you realize they were bad because they have been written into contracts.

Customization in this game is a disaster. Having all my little gobbos look the same until I pull out the wallet is no way for a game to be! Its straight up the EA games joke of: In the sequel you will have to pay to play as Luigi. This is especially bad, if you want to pay multiple factions.

Thanks for the review Crendor, the game does look pretty impressive visually but I'm pretty disappointed with the UI design. Don't know how you can give it 7.5/10 though. Now to the big issue. Why no mention of the horrific microtransactions? Absolutely no customization options in the base game, you have to purchase customization items on a player by player basis ranging from 75 warpstone ($0.75) for common items up to 750 ($7.50... if you can fucking believe it) for a legendary item... which might be a just crappy flame effect for a helmet. Let's just think on that for a moment... there are 6 customizable parts to a player so that's $4.50 for one player or $49.50 for an 11 man team... and that's just common items. That's more than the game costs to fully customize a single team, and how many of us use just one team? This is getting to be EA levels of greedy. Games Workshop have been slowly pricing me out of their physical games for a while now and I was hoping that the video games side of things wouldn't follow suite... silly me eh. Hard Pass on Blood Bowl 3 here, I'll just stick with BB2.

The strange thing is, I remember a lot of 3D RTSs had a camera feature that just reset it with one button. In the old Dawn of War games, the camera could zoom to basically ground-level or any angle you picked, but pressing Backspace just snapped it back to standard view. It might be they implemented this somehow and forgot to mention it, or maybe it's a button that needs to be assigned.

I have a hard time convincing myself to buy sequels that lack content available in their predecessors. The roadmap is incredibly problematic with crucial systems like resume a game after disconnection and a pause system that should've been in from the get-go. Right now I don't see any reason to buy the game since it lacks teams and features available in Bloodbowl 2. Personally, I like the new edition on TT. I like the changes to the way stats are presented, as having agility be, for example, 3+ is just more intuitive. Doesn't really matter for BB3 but makes the TT game slightly faster to play. I like the introduction of passing stat, as certain teams had it a bit too easy when it came to passing. Having a thrower positional actually matters now 👍 Haven't tried out all the different skills, so can't really comment on the new ones and tweaks, but haven't noticed any issues. Haven't played BB3 yet, but it sounds like it's not quite fully ready for release tbh, but hey, that's par for the course with new games these days 🤷

I'd recommend watching One World KZbin videos by PurpleChest where they discuss this in more depth but overall I think the new edition rules are better. For example the kickoff results are less game changing (e.g. blitz is d3 + 3 open players, not a whole team), and everyone can Jump over prone players; however there are some changes that I'm not keen on but others might like such as Guard skill now works on assisting fouls plus Sneaky git got better as the fouler can move after fouling; Leap and Passing became worse overall thus some teams got nerfed such as wood elves; Redraft is OK... some teams benefit more from it than others such as dwarves who do well with redraft.

I'm pretty mixed on the Blood Pass system. On one hand it's cool that we can get teams without paying $$...on the other hand Battle passes cause serious burnout and we don't know what how much time will need to be put into a pass to complete or what teams will cost after changing seasons if you fail to finish. There's also what will be in the free pass, will there be decent stuff...or will it be 95% garbage? Lot of questions that we won't be getting answers to for a few more months it seems.

I believe it has been stated that it should take 50 hours/matches (can't remember) to clear the blood pass. And I think that is a fair number. It's not something you can slam out in a day or two, but if you only have weekends to play it should be more than possible (two games Saturday, two on Sunday, or all four on one day, and that is if you can't (or don't want to) play on weekdays).

The art direction is a complete turn-off for me. Blood Bowl has always been "colorful", whimsical, higher-than-WHFB-contrast. This looks just too much like it's from the era of modern military shooters when the color palette was restricted to earthy tones. Even the fiction is highly comedic, rarely ever played properly straight. It's brutal, people drop dead, but there's a cheekiness to it that makes the setting of Blood Bowl endearing. This here, though? It looks drab and uninspiring. I cannot imagine pogostick gobbos and Bugman's in this version. So even before going to the obvious, glaring problems with the game, they've failed to encapsulate the spirit of BB.

Giving BB3 7.5 now is like rating wine when it's still grapes. Sure, it would be a descent game if it worked, but it doesn't. At this point you can play it offline vs dumb AI. Game has terrible shop - each thing you buy you buy for one char, you want both blitzers with same helmet, you need to buy two. I also heard rumors that mutations don't show up on players. Game is 4 at best at the moment.

To be fair, with regards to declaring passes/ handoffs, it does *slightly* change the game tactically. You could, in theory, change your plans form whom you pass/ handoff to. For example in BB2 if you have to reroll a dodge, you might decide to handoff the ball to someone nearby to roll fewer dice or put the ball in a safe position. In BB3, by declaring whom you will pass to ball to, you're tactically locking yourself in which arguably makes the game even more strategic. Whether the change is worth while though is a different matter.

I can see this game potentially getting better after some much needed patching but currently the game really feels lifeless to me. Like I really like the new rules they implemented and think the game is playable but as a video game adaptation of the board game it really feels lacking. I'm one of those that hates the new 'dim' graphics. It doesn't look gritty to me it's just unreadable, and as a visual artist there's no excuse. You can have gritty and still good to look at! This ain't it. I don't know if they are going to make this game MOD-able, but the graphics are the first thing I'd change; I just don't want to stare at that for hours of my day while I play a game. I'm with the consensus here that the game won't be in release state until they at least hit the November goal on their roadmap. Thanks for showing that. I'd add that it might not be playable even for another update or two after that, in which they hopefully add changes according to fan feedback coming in during this year. Might pick it up if they have a December sale price, if it does look like most major issues are gone. Our discord league is definitely going to be playing BB2 still for a good couple of years, but as you said that's also because there need to be more teams available.

they took the BLOOD out of Blood Bowl. You can't have a murder-based team now, as ClawPOMb is no longer a thing, so there is no way to consistently break armor. I have around 1000 hours in each of the two other BB games, and i only play Chaos :(

The blood pass system will be only for cosmetic items and for the new faction. Vamps haven't even been released for the BB2020 Tabletop. BB3 won't release Teams before Tabletop ... so you'll be waiting awhile.

The declaration of actions is part of the real rules since forever, it was a "bug" that this wasn't in the previous games. Did you notice that you can rollback substeps of your player commands with right-click? I have no idea how you manage to rotate the camera with right mouse button :D

These new graphics were 100% management driven. No player would want so many overlapping colors and terrible contrast. Even if they ever fix all the bugs I'd still pass on this one.

Get the Legendary BB2 on sale, because it can be hard to get a human opponent due to its age. Having bought BB3 myself, IMO wait on BB3 until its patched up and has more teams.

Only bug that bothers me is the crashing, but that's not consistently reported. Like Cyberpunk, my run was damn near bug free. Don't care about animations. Wish I could turn them more off in bb2. Don't care about graphics beyond readability of skills and models. AI is irrelevant, I only play online. So I'm still pretty fucking hyped. Thanks for the video and discussion

Declaring intent / activation definitely feels like it's a little too faithfully recreating a tabletop rule meant to prevent arguments which aren't really valid when the video game enforces the rules anyway.

Most graphic cards (gpu) can be configured, so to remedy brightness, contrast, and saturiation. Alternately: There are also APPS allowing to boost or reduce gamma. Difference between gamma and brightness? Brightness shines on the graphic, while gamma shines thru it from behind aka below (no blinding until overdoing). 🤔 #BloodBowl

Are the devs of this a totally fresh team of interns-turned-real-devs working on their first ever game? It isn't hard to make a sequel to a game like this. There is no story. There aren't characters (no, the announcers and named star players don't really count...). How do professionals do this poorly at their jobs... this was a free win for them. This is not a complex game. There aren't any particularly complex systems at play, interacting deeply with one another... it is so confusing. Such a shame, but maybe it will improve further with time... not that it should have to; but ideally it is still an option.

I'm 10 hrs in and still can't figure out how to restart my 1st league. I'm a tabletop player since mid 90's, owned every digital version. All they needed was upgraded UI and graphics, the play is 100% the same for multiple decades. The animations are 10+years behind, the graphics barely over bb2, liveservice is making my terrible menus take 20seconds plus to populate

This game's a broken mess, from disconnects that you can't reconnect to hard crashes requiring a full PC restart, nothing seems to work. And all this after a two year delay from the original release date - Perhaps it'll be playable in another two years (and perhaps not).

Blood Bowl 3 launching without the eternal league like they did with Blood Bowl 2 brings me sadness. I don't care about the solo campaigns if there is no progress on my team while doing them. I'm not particularly into PvP unless a bunch of friends are playing and those friends don't play Blood Bowl so it feels like there is nothing here for me. It reminds me of how the Sims keeps releasing games with updated graphics and a fraction of the content, but then they resell you the rest of the content you used to have piecemeal. It's been done before. Why's it gotta be like this :')

Offline works great. Im having a ton of fun. I dont play mp anyway. Campaign is beefy enough to keep me busy. Im having zero issues on offline mode. Id say play offline mode until they fix online. Honestly, every game has problems on launch. Im able to play with no problems so its great for me
