This has to be one of my favorite scenes in any film ever. The killing is indiscriminate and actually showcased in all its brutality. I would never wanna be caught between 2 opposing armed forces in an African conflict. Idk if I’ll get out alive and id probably just get mowed down by turrets.

This sadly happened in real life, the infamous Freetown massacre in Sierra Leone. The attack occured when the PMC group "Executive Outcomes" was forced to leave Freetown by UN (who previously brought them there in first place), but when they saw that they were combating RUF, UN command was like:"nuh uh!" and forced them to leave. When RUF seized control of Freetown thousands were massacred.

If you look closely the rebels have better weapons and the were a ton more of them. So the government troops were out gunned and out numbered. No chance of winning.

The armies of poor African nations are mostly conscripted neighborhood watchmen from various tribes. You should watch the vice documentary on South Sudan, they were even scared of hearing gunfires
