probably the fist really unique death metal band that appeared in last 2 decades. this has quality and structure and uniqeness of early starts of real death metal legends like nocturnus, atheist, incantation, morbid angel and so on....

Totally agree. You can tell they're inspired by those early death bands without just copying them. They're both going back to the roots and pushing the genre to new grounds at the same time. I hope to hear more death metal bands do this. It's technical and progressive without sounding like they're just doing robotic wanking.

i saw blood incantation at the warfield this past october, and literally this band opened my mind to such wonderous, illusory, metaphoric experiences. never have i had this experience with any other band. truly amazing to have seen them live, especially that i took my daughter to see them, amazing band!

i was thinking with all the stuff in space, and the focus on cuneiform, maybe more Zecharia Sitchin. But yeah, I wasn't entirely sure if the video was going down the "ancient alien gods" or the "ancient human high civilisation" route. On a relevant note in regards to the latter, Rene Noorbergen's "Secrets of the Lost Races: New Discoveries of Advanced Technology in Ancient Civilisations" is an enjoyable book.

I distinctly remember a well cited section of David Mathisen's book, "The Undying Stars", that essentially places the Mithraic cult as the secret society that fomented and manipulated Christianity into place, with the cult pulling the strings behind the scene the entire time, as if they were the nerve center. According to the cited research, Rome was basically a host, but then became a husk, hence the break to Byzantium/Constantinople/Istanbul. The more things change...

i listened to a lot of established metal bands and pop, hip hop and all that for a few years, didn't really have a circle to share music with, then some random happenstance got me into "Metal Twitter" and the OSDM "cosmic" and "caveman" bands last year, Blood Incantation quickly becoming my favorite, obviously, and I've spent the entire year since then catching up on so much sick shit. 2019 has been an amazing year for death metal, extreme metal, and music in general, and even though I was aware of Starspawn back in 2016, I'm glad I only really got into BI last year, so I had months and months to wear that album out just in time for HHOTHR to be announced/released. Sorry for the paragraph lol. Also just barely saw them live for the first time with Haunter and Immolation last month.
