This movie sends chills down your spine easily, by a stranger being welcomed into a village as if he was a long lost friend treating him as they would family...in feudal Japan nobody acted like that and this low key oddness weirded me out instantly! imagine wandering into a town you had never seen before, met a girl who took you into her home and treated your wounds and fed you and allowed you to sleep in her home all unbidden and unasked for, wouldn't you be suspicious? I would be freaking out man! Especially in a time and place where everyone was looked upon with fear and suspicion! Even though this is an 1980s movie it still hasn't lost its subtle low key scary stuff. I haven't seen this movie in a very long time. In fact, I had actually forgotten about it. Nice to come across it again, too bad it's in pan & scan format but beggars can't be choosers! LOL

I had been looking for an old manga film made somewhere between 84 and 87. It was on a bootleg I got from early animie convention, (back when it was called Japanamation) I bought a vhs which had 3 movies recorded over the one I'm looking for. The only clip I have is a dark scene with a bald monk surrounded by werewolves (more than likely Yoma) and one of them attacking the monk and bit him on his shoulder. The Monk broken the wolf's jaw by flexing his shoulder muscles, and thr clip ended there because another movie was recorded over it. Dragons heaven I believe it was? Anyway this film is the closest I've seen that looks like it could be what I'm looking for. If anyone knows what movie it could possibly be, please comment on this post. Thank you for posting this movie. I feel like I've gotten a step closer to solving the mystery that has haunted me for decades.

A little belated, but....yeah, this kind of thing was quite common with 80s and 90s anime. They either finished the anime before the manga finished, or their budgets ran out, but thankfully anime got the better end of the deal later on.

Saw this years ago somewhere between 2001 - 2003 on CineMAX back when premium cable showed anime. This is the OVA based off the 1 volume manga written and illustrated by Kei Kusunoki in 1985. Needless to say, it wasn't very popular in Japan because the story was so bizarre and Shueisha didn't fund another volume.

I neee help! There's an anime movie I watched when I was very young and I can't remember the title but I want to rewatch it so bad! So far its like finding a needle in a hay stack :( it was about ten or twelve years ago and I rented it from blockbuster. All I can remember was that it was very gory, had ninjas and scary looking demons in it. I also remeber there being like a magical forest and spirits or somthing as well.... oh yah and the cover of it was blue..... please if anyone has any leads please please please let me know!

I am looking for this film in the early 1990s or late 1990s. I think this is not Ninja Scroll. I watch Ninja Scroll and it doesn't have demons. I think someone mention (Wrath of the Ninja) in the comment, but I am not sure if it is the one I am looking for all these years. In the beginning of the anime film, it show the main guy practicing his shinobi skills in a magical forest. Then, the demons show up to attack the main guy. I think his name is called Kotaro or Kitaro. He have black hairs, and I am not sure about his eye color. He is a ninja, wearing purple ninja outfit. He carry a katana, but he couldn't kill the demons. Then, the main hero have to go find this demon sword and promise to deliver blood to the demon sword in order to become the master of the demon sword. The main guy can fly too because the sword magical powers be able to have him open two black wings on his back like a dark angel. In the middle of the film, the main guy cannot defeat the demons by himself, so he send out alert message to contact four people who are the gates owner of the North, South, East, and West. I remember there is 1 girl, who is the love interest of Kotaro. She have blonde and long hair. She wear a dark blue, shinobi outfit. She is playing a koto (japanese string instrument) when she hears the alert from an owl. The other three guys hears the alert from the owl too. The first guy is barbecuing a boar when he hears of the message. He can use a boomerang weapon. The second is a monk who hears of the message of the owl through the window. He use a staff like a monk staff. And, the third guy is a woodcutter when he sees the owl standing in a tree (not sure about this part). I am not sure if he use an axe or something as a weapon. All five of them go fight against the demons, who lives in a flying castle. I remember there is a noble lady, who get turn into a spider demon to become an ally of the demon lord. Then, all four of them try to close the gates of North, East, West, and South so that the demon leader cannot morph into his demon form. However, all the demons allies knock out the four people of the gates owner into the water of the lake. Kotaro cannot fight against the demons so they have to retreat while the demon castle disappear in the dark sky. Kitaro pulls all his teammates onto a boulder in the middle of the lake. Kitaro also tells that they need to go retrieve two weapons, I believe it is a sabre and a spear (not sure about this part). In the end of the film, the preview show all five of them to go find retrieve the weapons so that they can combat the demons again. I am not sure if this is an OAV anime or an anime series or a film. I believe the quality is the same style of Blood Reign: Curse of the Yoma too..
