This was a pretty hardcore first dive into BTS but I’m impressed by your open mind and attention to detail - great reaction!! I got into them early 2020 and have not left the rabbit hole since. I still don’t like kpop tbh. Tried to get into other groups but no one really compares to BTS. I am a 39 yr old mom who used to only listen to rock music. BTS opened my eyes and turned my life upside down (in a good way!). I love each one of them so much. They are this big for a reason.

I totally understand the feeling. I looooove ock and metal. Rock is still my go to and my first love. I only started listening to more pop music (and doing it with an open mind) in the last like 5 years. I'm almost 29 now, and spent all my teens and early 20s being "too cool" for pop. I'm so happy you found something that helped you broaden your musical horizon as well. Also thanks for the nice comment!

So no one has mentioned this, but this video, and the album Wings have direct references from the book Demian by Herman Hesse, which was further inspired by Nietzsche's work (Hence the German quote). The kiss scene and the wings cut off, the organ player etc were all from the book. Other symbols were the painting 'Fall of the rebel angels', 'Fall of Icurus' and did you notice the recurring apple? (Represents knowledge). The Theme is kinda about letting go of innocence in the pursuit of knowledge and stepping into the world. Also your intermissions were everything! Bravo!! 😊

i've been an army for 4 years now and i still don't know the meaning behind bs&t mv. all i know is that it's about temptation, chaos, and (i think?) about that one hermann hesse story demian. i'm more interested in the meaning of ddaeng and baepsae than i am the literal godsend that is blood sweat & tears... on another note, you should watch 'a guide to bts (2021 edition)' by jiminluvr (contains song/live performance spoilers), or, if you're not the type of person who likes introductory videos, the bts room live and/or tiny desk concert. the former is a medley of their b-sides from 2c4s in 2013 to be in 2020. the latter is a performance of the 3 songs: dynamite, save me, and spring day (the queen or, as yoongi says, undying zombie of bts songs). a guide to bts (2021 edition): kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWm6XoFpl8h9msk [2021 festa] bts room live: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIPLm5ePqLOqd80 bts: tiny desk (home) concert: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXe8couplpyjm5o if you watch the last two then please put on the closed captions (english subtitles). 💜 please and thank you.

Blood, Sweat and Tears is a full-on introduction to the incredible world that is BTS! Nearly everyone’s response on first watching the MV is a variation on ‘WTF’ followed by ‘I’m so confused’😂. You did amazingly well picking up on the themes. The fact that it’s made even more complicated because it combines imagery relating to the book ‘Demian’ but also to the BU really is mind-blowing. 18 months down the rabbit hole and I’m still not quite mentally ready to tackle the BU😵💫

Blood Sweat & Tears is basically a chapter in the BU/Bangtan Universe. This all started with I Need U MV back in 2015, and is still going on. It's a fictional storyline told very metaphorically in the MVs, books, short films, highlight reels, album notes, a webtoon, and a mobile game. Army has had to decipher it along the way. We used to have Theory Thursdays starting in 2015, where we all met up online and had discussions with people from all over the world. We researched all kinds of things... astronomy, astrology, the language of flowers, the meaning of colors, religions, psychology, Greek gods, artists, etc... WARNING: if you go down this road into the BU, you will never be able to escape. You will never be able to just watch an MV without asking "what does this mean?". Because most of the time, there is a hidden meaning and message.

Omg me too!! I was like, she is so so smart, because she was picking up on a lot of stuff, and when she busted out the German😱 She is too cool I am so impressed
This was such a lovely reaction, thank you! There are many ARMYs that went down the same pipeline from being a Directioner to ARMY, I'm one of them lol. BTS is soooo different from every other group, even in kpop, but that's why I think it's really cool to follow lots of different artists and listen to different genres of music. I think right now I am BTS ARMY before any other artist, but that's also mostly because there is tons of content that they release, basically daily. I love being in this super supportive, kind and friendly fandom the most compared to any other fandoms that I've been a part of. I hope you can experience that love and welcoming from us through these reactions! And just in case, if someone is ever mean to you in any way related BTS, they are not ARMY, we don't claim them 😀 Blood, Sweat and Tears is one of the most beautiful and artsy music videos and concept, something similar to this would probably be Black Swan (if you are interested in such deep stuff). Since I have not seen anyone mentioning this before, again, just a tip - best and most reliable translations are on doolset bangtan. And there are also always captions available on their official music videos. But only a few years ago they started doing English captions for behind the scenes videos, so I think BS&T might not have captions on the original channel and only fan translated and edited videos! I'm excited to see your journey with BTS next, if you are up to it! It's an amazing rabbit hole to get into.

I’ve watched many reactions to this music video as it is my favorite of theirs, and what got me into them, and I can honestly say you are the first person I’ve ever seen who had paid so much attention to detail and I really appreciate your openness and commentary. So many people think it’s silly or weird or cringe (especially when Jin kisses the statue and taehyung smirks with the gouges on his back) but I think every aspect of this video is absolutely beautiful, and as a whole was way ahead of its time. I’m so happy you decided to give them a shot and document it (I wish I would have) and I hope you continue. I recommend watching more live performances and videos for their personalities, I know some other kind armys have left tons of recommendations for you so happy watching! 💜

Great reaction! And fantastic job spotting the symbolism. You were spot on for the most part. This song is part of a storyline that runs through BTSs’ videos and this one I particular has an theme of Temptation that runs through it. The constant battle between light and dark, good and evil. Eventually they decide to give into temptation.

I'm a directioner-army, I can't wait for u to dive deeper in BTS' other songs. I'm so impressed cuz you actually figured out some of the symbolisms in the mv and song that most people would just ignore. They have so much references to literature in their songs and MVs, this song and MV in particular have references to Demian, a book by Hernann Hesse. Some of their songs and MVs are interconnected and have an overlapping storyline which makes up the BU (Bangtan Universe), if they are marked with "BU content" then it is part of the storyline. (BU also includes short films, teasers, a webtoon, a mobile game, and album notes, which may be too much to dive into if you're new to BTS, so u should just focus on the songs and MVs first if it's too overwhelming)

It kinda hits at that theme that they were in a sheltered good place and have now been exposed to darker things.

Suga's solo name) Singularity (solo by V) Daydream (solo by J-Hope) Bicycle (solo by RM) Serendipity (solo by Jimin) Epiphany (solo by Jin) Euphoria (solo by Jungkook) If you really start getting into them, it's a good idea to watch some of the many introduction videos (you'll get tons of recommendations). The story of how they got to be where they are is really inspiring and they are some of the nicest celebrities you'll ever see. Welcome to BTS. I hope you enjoy getting to know them. 😊💜💜💜💜

I really love that you readd the lyrics to this song first before watching it. BTS are all about their lyricism and meaning in their lyrics and their performances. They are true musicians and performance artists with each member having their own unique talent to add to the group. LIS: "I'm so lost right now" ARMY: Just like all of us were lost when we first watched it. --'ARMY's reading the book 'Demian' by Hermann Hesse to understand the meaning'. I love that you got the reference of letting go of innocence. This song is all about the struggle with temptation. V (Kim Taehyung) is the one with blonde hair that covered Jin's eyes, and his wings were cut off. JIN is the one that stared at the paintig in the beginning and ends up kissing the winged statue (represents Abraxas) and his face cracked at the end. This is a part of the Bangtan Universe. I LOVE that you got the meaning of the video without having to watch an explanation. I would wait on that until you are ready for the BU. I'm looking forward to more reactions. Watch the behing the scenes, I will link it for you. BTS Blood, Sweat, and Tears Shooting Sketch - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGXOlpSaipuEr9k

BTS albums always had a story as they're one of the few kpop idols that actually write their songs. Albums: 2 Cool 4 Skool - Going against Korean Education Wings - How one loses innocence when they transition from childhood to adulthood Love Yourself Trilogy - part of their love yourself campaign which is why many people say BTS changed their life Map of the Soul 7 - About BTS journey Be - pandemic English Singles: Butter, Dynamite aren't composed by the members. Written by Ed Sheeran and etc. Their korean songs are their strongpoint. They can't speak English only (1) member can. All english songs are "Feel Good" songs so help people recover from pandemic. (RM helped with writing Butter) Members: (No longer applicable as they can all dance, sing, and rap) RM - First member chosen. Underground Rapper. Leader. Has a bachelors in Engineering and learned English through TV show Friends. Very Smart. He writes the songs for bts (with suga and jhope) so he reads a lot of books so that he can avoid controversy. He consults women's expert before publishing a song. Suga - Second member of group. Producer/Underground Rapper. Watch Agust D - The Last. This song reveals everything how hard BTS (SUGA) worked for success. He recently got a shoulder surgery and it has been revealed he was so desperate to debut he hid the fact he had a shoulder injury after getting into a car accident. His parents disapproved him pursuing music. JHope - Third member added. Steet Dancer. Won a national dance competition. Jin - Actor. V - Came from a poor family but always wanted to learn music. JK - Main vocalist Jimin - Contemporary Dancer. Top student in his school. Watch Jimin - Filter dance performances on KZbin NEW ROLES: they came from a poor and small company separated from the big 3 companies dominating korea (YG, JYP, and SM). now, they made the company rich. After 8 years of working hard. All of them can dance, sing, and rap which is evident in their recent music videos. BTS stands for Bangtan Seongyondan which means bulletproof boyscouts. Bulletproof to block out all stereotypes aimed at youths like bullets. That is why their fanbase is called Army. Later on you can learn more interesting facts about them such as which member can play instruments. Also, their concerts are the best. Some Kpop only look good on Music Videos but BTS hold tours over many countries. You should watch youtube fanmade videos such as When BTS Overworked And Exhausted. Those videos are behind the scenes of their concerts and you'll see why they deserve respect. Also, they are very funny so I recommend you watching fanmade videos on YT such as compilation.

Last year I started watching them on KZbin and I really got into them for their music and their characters. Only a few weeks ago I discovered BTS. And I must say; this rabbit hole is even more interesting. I really like the talent the boys all have. And they got so many styles of music. They all can sing, dance and rap. And their music always has meaning. They bring positivity and understanding and I love that. Above all this they all stay very humble and kind people. Very impressive. Considering this was not only your first time watching BS&T but your first BTS video? You did amazing picking up on the video. Very few notice the green, and you noticed it right from the start and about the youth/innocence. There are some good explanation videos, as you said that would be helpful. lol I went back and looked and I think I liked the one by "Dont Worry I'm not Afraid"... don't watch the one by xCeleste. Not because her stuff isn't great, but hers puts it in context of a whole suite of BTS videos and overarching story that may get spoiled. My guess is my comment is a bit late and unhelpful, but just wanted to post, and let you know I did really enjoy your reaction and understood your desire to want to document it in case you did end up liking it, since you didn't get to do that for 1D. I won't recommend any, since i'm guessing many others already did, lol, but look forward to seeing you again. :)

So When the scene that all the members are running forwards some door frame or whatever that is ? Yoongi is holding jimin with him , jungkook is following rm , jhope was just running with them , then taehyung turned bach to see jin still contemplating whether to go with them or not , taehyung cover jin’s eyes like what suga did to jimin too The three members rm , tae and yoongi completely fell into the darkness, and they’re trying to bring the other members with them Jhope just wanted to be happy with them that’s why he shot taehyung to stop him taking jin The scene where jin kissed the status of an angel that has a dark wings , that’s when he decided to stay with the members even if it cost his freedom and youth Then the blankets revealed taehyung that has a scar on his back , that scar was his wings , remember that statue thta has black wings? That wings was taehyung’s In the end , jin still confused, that’s why his face was cracking, he’s contemplating on saving the members or going with them into the darkness There is a comic, called save me , it’s jin going back through time and saving the members from doing bad things , he mase a decision, and that’s saving his members from the darkness I hope this will help you a little Always behind bts mv there is a story so you should always go and watch army explaining for the mv you will love it special about spring day it’s very touching … i just drop what I understand when i first saw it so i hope it helping

I think, in my opinion, You don't even need to watch an explanatory video to understand, I recommend you read Demian and that will clarify most of the scenes for you, at least I base my interpretation on 90% of the book, because I think that, in the symbolism and the story, there is a lot of coherence in itself so, like, I know there's the whole BU thing, their Storyline anyway, and mythology, but Demian sums up the overall meaning of the song pretty well, if you're going to see an explanatory video I'd say you'd need to hear the whole thing. the Wings album, before, because it has a very intrinsic meaning, in this general context of BTS's Sotyline, with short films from the album, and a lot of relationship with previous music to this album, but if it's just to understand what Blood Sweat and Tears says In general, Wings itself says all it needs to say (outside of Storyline of course, since the plot still continues even in the current MV's) and I recommend you look for more about Storyline later, if you're interested, of course, I personally find it complex, but a very detailed work It's interesting and it complements a lot in their work.
