Can you imagine the agony this creature is in when we find it? It’s beashood has kept it alive, yes, but the amount of pain it must feel is immeasurable. It is starving, with no prey, yet cannot die. The ashen blood this person was infected with was NOT cured with the blood healing, and progressed to the point of its flesh rotting away slowly, becoming a thick, grayish-red ooze, constantly dripping from its bones, and the flesh that remains is probably covered in burn wounds from the initial fires of old Yharnam. Killing this thing, is irrefutably a kindness.

Died numerous times on him and watched many videos. The solution was to stay in the middle of the room and be aggressive. Videos say to keep your distance, but that doesn't help. Keep it tight and ALWAYS roll to your left. Then when you're behind get 2 hits, and roll away. Then keep repeating this. The only time to keep distance is when he stands up and roars. Didn't even need antidote.

+Aaron H oh yer and a few visceral attacks with the blunderbuss at the beginning. a visceral attack is when the enemy goes to hit you and you shoot him with the blunderbuss. the enemy will then pause for a couple of seconds. thats when you hold R1. your character will lunge his weapon into the beast and do fair to middling damage. then you can save your molotovs and cocktails till phase 2 /3

If you managed to find the priest NPC Alfred (up the stairs behind the building that leads down to Old Yarnham), he will be available as a friendly summon for this fight. You can find his summon point to the right of the stairs that lead down to the courtyard before the boss arena. He's great as a diversionary force and does a nice bit of damage with his Kirks Hammer.

I love this boss's music. The rolling percussion, the sinister sounding brass, you really feel like you're in danger. Gascoigne and Amelia's (also the Cleric Beast's) tracks pumped you up and made you feel as if you could eke out some kind of victory. The moment this track plays, you know you've entered somewhere you shouldn't be.

For anybody having trouble with the Beast (which should be just about everybody), visceral attacks are extremely useful. Shoot him as he winds up and is juuust about to slash, and he'll be stunned. It's very tricky timing, but it really pays off to learn it.

This boss is fine, not even that hard.... Until all of a sudden he's able to poison me in 2 hits. Then I spend the remaining two thirds of the fight trying to avoid every single attack, chugging through antidotes and blood vials every time he manages to string a couple of hits together. The idea of being aggressive and not afraid to take hits and constantly countering every attack to regain health back is lost in this boss fight because taking any damage generally results in getting poisoned, so you're forced to play defensively. At least for me anyway

I think this is one of From’s most bad-ass bosses. It’s not the most epic, it doesn’t haven’t particularly interesting lore and it’s medium difficulty, but everything about it is just perfectly designed, starting with the name: a beast so starved of blood it is absolutely desperate to rip you to shreds. It’s so malnourished, poisonous pus literally oozes from its pores. Its screams sound dried up, as if if completely dehydrated, I can’t tell if it’s ripped clothes or the creature’s own skin flapping around its body. A pathetic, malnourished and spine-chilling miscreation, and the first two seconds of the soundtrack just screams that you are doomed to have gotten your scent caught: DAAAAAH, you’re fucked, and then follows up a perfectly composed horror track. I shit my pants the first time I walked into that church :)

If anyone needs help with this fight there are 2 strategies that work very well again her: 1. Parry. There are 2 attacks that are very easy to parry. The first is her right arm slash that can be parried as soon as she raises it. The second is her frenzy attack. Wait till she raises up on her hind legs and as soon as she starts coming down, parry her. 2. Dodge into and to the left of her attacks. This is preferable during phase 3 because a botched parry during this phase is almost a guarantee death.

TheJackFroster If you counter with the gun and stagger them, when they are staggered you can go up close to them and hit R1. This does a visceral attack which does some heavy damage. Very easy with slower attacking enemies as well

I literally eased past the boss without even using NPCs or anything after watching this, really helpful. The way to beat him is to hug close to him and close him down, when he comes to attack you, roll behind him, he won't hit you 90% of the time and then just pop off a few attacks, jump away, he'll close you, roll behind, attack etc. You'll only need 1 or two brief breaks to heal

i really love the blood starved beast even though fighting her is incredibly stressful. love her design so much and how nasty and wet it is. her attacks are super predictable though and you can just walk beneath them for the most part! i think she's arguably easier in the chalice dungeon because it's a smaller area and she won't constantly break your lock-on.

Not sure id call blood borne a "horror game" per se, but this boss fight however is pure 100% horror done right in every way. The creepy old abandoned church arena, the terrifying escalating music. It's horrifying slow walk towards you and then it starts going nuts and you feel yourself losing control of the fight and panicking. And of course the design is pure nightmare fuel. Brilliant boss, very underrated imo

Yo. If you're reading this, don't give up. Just defeated him on my 10th attempt with a Skill build. Go in with plenty of antidotes and blood vials. Dodge his attacks to your left (his right) and he will be vulnerable for attacks. Molotovs can help but they are tricky to land with his fast movements. Fire paper does wonders for giving your weapon fire damage which he is very susceptible to. Just stay calm and remember the five rules of Blood borne. Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

I appreciate the advice (especially the dodge right tip.) It took me around 10-or-so tries before I was able to take her down myself. What was really killing me was that nasty grab attack of hers. If it doesn't outright kill you, you'll be so low on health that you won't even be able to heal yourself before the poison ticks away at whatever sliver of HP you might have had remain. What helped me immensely was the flamesprayer. When she enters her third form she literally spews out toxins from her body... making it kinda hard to hit her without risking building up poison in your system. Also dying to her wasn't as frustrating assay dying to Father Gascoigne since if you opened up the short-cut through the tower to the right side of the exit from the church and just run pass the Lycan and... bog witch? And you'll be right back there within three minutes. Still... I do appreciate the advice, pal. Dodging to the left and fire paper really helps (though it's sadly is limited since you can't buy fire paper, at least not at this point.)

Massive tip for y’all: find Alfred before you enter old yharnam, you can then spawn him just before entering the church and he will help you on this boss fight, however try to get molotov for this one

I don't really get how you've done this. If I get that close to it, it goes mental, or eats my face off, or fully poisons me, or all of the above...It certainly doesn't behave as placidly as it does in this vid. The Black Church Set in Cathedral Ward will help prevent getting poisoned, although you should be packing Antidotes just in case. The Black Church Set is on a body, near a outdoor hallway where there are lots of humans hiding behind doors. I just beat BSB on my first playthrough yesterday (three tries) and I wouldn't consider myself really good at the game. I had leveled up my Saw Cleaver to +4, and didn't bother trying to parry him - just waited for him to swipe, got two or three R1 attacks in with the weapon extended, then ran away. I also found that hiding behind the pillars helps a lot if you need to heal up, antidote, or wait for him to attack. You could also try using Molotovs but the throw can leave you wide open so be careful.

I beat it by jumping around and attacking from behind. In the last phase I would carefully time my attacks one At a time and use Molotov cocktails when it would stand still. Patience is key.....

This danm boss was the first thing to truly urk me in this game, i had the hardest time with it try after try nothing but death. Until i learned that you can just casually walk to the forward right and the thing will always miss you, this boss has been a joke to me ever since.

I accidentally skipped this boss and beat the fourth boss first. Looking online i saw how difficult people thought he was so i went back to see what the fuss was all about and killed him in one try incredibly easily. I'm kinda sad i missed out on the chance to fight him for real, i love struggling with a boss and then finally killing it

You make it look so easy, when he goes into poison mode he always does this attack where he grabs me bites me, boom I'm dead, it's always the same, he jumps like 3 or 4 meters straight grabs me bites me, I'm dead, I don't know when he's going to do that, or how to avoid it...

He has a visual cue for when hes about to lunge; he kind of moves his body back and forms half a square with both his arms, if you are paying attention and notice that he is doing this, immediately dodge out of the way, or you are literally dead.

FINALLY beat him after too many attempts, just couldn't pull off the stagger with the guns as the timing was too tricky before doing a visceral attack. My technique was similar as I would just dodge him and strike. in his final form I used Molotov cocktails to avoid getting poisoned when close by. Beating this boss felt so good considering I stopped playing this last year as I gave up on this boss.

I found his 3rd part to be the easiest. After he does that screaming attack he runs right for you, move away charge you weapon and watch him run into it like a moron. Amazing fight though. So tense

Use the summon sign to summon Alfred beside the stairs just before this boss. I beat it first go with his help! You have to talk to Alfred at cathedral ward to summon him for this fight.

The thing about beasts in this game is that your instinct usually works against you....most of the enemies are designed to catch attempts to flee them. This one is especially annoying, if you panic and try to back-dash his attacks then it just puts you in a worse situation

One thing that none of the walkthroughs seem to explain to people about BSB is that you need to be wearing castion's armor The same armor as the guy you beat with the music box It's available in the fountain outside of the tool room it gives you 52 defense against poison everything else is in the low teens to single digits and you're going to need it because blood starved beasts poison ticks you down so fast it's ridiculous Even with the armor on it ticks you down fast so you can imagine what it's like without it

Three stages: no poison, poison, deadly poison. In stage 3 she poisons you just by being near her, so keep an eye on your health if you are just dodging. All her attacks can be evaded if you dodge under her right arm (your left).

I was having a hard time with this guy so i used the bell for a bit of help and as i was rolling around and trying to hit the beast once or twice before he attacked again, this dude came in with a saw or something and completely pulverized the boss in less than 10 seconds. An easier tactic to beath the Blood Starved Beast (BSB) is to bait out its attacks and then parry. Parry time isn't all that complex, BSB telegraphs attack *BEAT* shoot, visceral attack. This timing works for all except the one it starts with its left claw where you have to shoot sooner (you also can't parry the poison blast). Once it hits third phase, you don't even have to mind the poisoning because the health- and poisoning bar is suspended when you enter the visceral attack animation and its so mindlessly aggressive that you don't even need to bait out the attacks. Also, only heal or cure poison in third phase when the beast's on the ground after a visceral attack or has just whiffed its long forward swipe which carries it across the room, otherwise it will combo-stunlock you into oblivion.

Found a tip from a guy named Adam Bolton: "A tip for this fight. If you managed to find the priest NPC Alfred (up the stairs behind the building that leads down to Old Yarnham), he will be available as a friendly summon for this fight. You can find his summon point to the right of the stairs that lead down to the courtyard before the boss arena. He's great as a diversionary force and does a nice bit of damage with his Kirks Hammer."

In all of the fromsoftware games I always try to picture myself in the main character’s position and think about how I’d really handle seeing these terrifying and horrifying creatures, I’d probably try do ranged attacks then commit suicide before they even get halfway toward me lol. Especially if I knew I’d resurrect somewhere safe lol. You’d have to be totally insane to square off against these nightmarish beasts. Hell, most people panic and shit the bed when just a normal human attacks them, let alone a journey through dozens of the most awful beings imaginable. Only motivation I think would be strong enough to make me actually fight would be if the enemy would kill my family if it didn’t stop it, at least I hope I’d be brave enough to.

I didn't need any antidotes to beat him. Just four Molotov Cocktails (three of which missed) A flaming sword and a shit ton of blood vials. Didn't even have the antidotes equipped because I didn't realize what I was fighting.Beat him first time...despite being stuck on the Cleric Beast for over half a year.

honestly took me like 10 tries. the first 9 tries i would get him down to 25% or so and then he would just constantly run after me and poison me and i would never have any time to heal or use antidotes before he'd kill me. the 10th try i used fire paper and it helped a lot. it was almost absurd how quickly i killed him considering how much trouble i'd had up to that point.

This thing seems to get a new grab attack under 50% health, it killed me instantly with that 2 times on 12 Vitality. I would recommend having 15 Vitality for this fight to be safe. More Info: it charged around one of those stone columns, grabbed me, chewed on my head, poisoned me and let me go with under 50 health so i had no chance to get an antidote in. Therefore i would say that attack deals 600 dmg and poisons.

Lmao same. I summoned Alfred for my first 3-4 attempts because people said it was easier but it was actually harder. Then I went online and played with someone and I still lost, twice?. Then I just thought, fuck it and decided to go solo. And on the second attempt (on my own) I beat him. After beating him I was annoyed at the amount of insights I wasted.

If you're starting to lose your sanity from the cycle of this thing killing you, losing your items, getting more items, then running back there and getting killed again, just do a summon. It takes away from the satisfaction of beating him but it will save you a lot of raging.

Once you get the timing down on visceral attacks, this guy isn't all that bad. I visceral attack him about 3 or 4 times, then throw a couple molotovs to finish him off. He absolutely wrecked me as a new player though.

I was stuck on this enemy for atleast 3 to 4 weeks ( 22 days plus) when I defeated it my happiness was immeasurable. Bloodborne was my very first souls game and after that I went to dark souls 1 > dark souls 2> dark souls 3> sekiro> demon souls> elden ring and with almost 5000 hours plus I sometimes look back at this boss and smile. 98% time I will defeat any new boss within 1 try now but The memories I got from this boss which is beyond easy for me now is I got gud ! God!

if you go back to the beginning of the game after defeating the 2nd boss and the mini boss with the turret in old yhaham... go to the 1st ladder and speak to the 1st window and he will give you a flame thrower

I don’t know what is going on with this game but I’ve first tried both Gehrman and cleric beast and then first tried the blood starved beast without getting hit, I genuinely looked up this video to see how people struggled with it, I just kept dodging behind him and never got hit
