fromsoftware games have so much interesting cut content, it’s sadden me. i wish they could remake some games, but themselves and not by someone else like bluepoint for demon souls. i really wish fromsoft could remake the games and add all the interesting cut content to it, like dark souls 1 (+ finish the second part of the game such as izalith), remake dark souls 2 and fix some things, bloodborne. infortunatly, that will probably never happen with bloodborne since sony own a big part of it and doesn’t even want to gave us a pc-port…

Seeing as how Demon's Souls has many design choices similar to Bloodborne's and how Gascoigne used to say "umbasa", I think they were originally both supposed to be within the same universe. You can also see many knight corpses in Chalice dungeons. They could still share a universe but just be set in different times. This explains many of the knightly- looking armors in the cut content.

This is just a far-fetched thought, but all of the cut-content shown so far from enemies to armour have been very gothic-fantasy esque. It makes me think that "Bloodborne" might have been a different kind of project entirely, perhaps similar to Demon's Souls or Dark Souls, but was changed still in the early stages of development into the Victorian cosmic horror story due to a change in artistic direction. Maybe Miyazaki decided that it was better to try something new, instead of doing another dark fantasy title, especially since DSII had not long come out.

Well, it is pretty evident that Bloodborne was originally meant to be connected to Demon's Souls, the main evidencebeing that there was a character speaking the line "Umbasa" in the demo a few people got to play once, but beyond that, it seems pretty clear that at some point or another, they scrapped that idea altogether - probably because the setting was growing to be just too different from Demon's Souls - and decided to just make it its own thing, removing all connections to Demon's Souls.

yeah i think they wanted to make a clear seperation ebtween dark souls and bloodbornes aesthetic. but also, that knight stuff is mostly confined to cainhurst and the way you reach cainhurst (like a dlc added as an afterthought), it makes me assume that cainhurst was an area that got a lot of cuts. Maybe that is because the whole vampire theme was possibly too much to add to the werewolf and lovecraft themes, or maybe it got reduced to push the dark souls imagery further away from the bloodborne ip as a whole.

Hey! Regarding the shackle icon: if you look closely at the PS4 trophy icon for beating Micolash, you can still see that he has the shackles on. The trophy model they snapped a pic of must have been the earlier build before they took the prison bracelets out. Neat!

the first armor is so incredible. The "Flintlock small pistol" is actually a Matchlock pistol. The rope is lit, and used to ignite the powder. Same for the "Flintlock Rifle", it's a Matchlock as well. Flintlocks use flint, Matchlocks use a match.

love the gun showcase because it gives insight in the design thought process. many of these deleted guns were just not in-universe enough and looked like irl firearms. but more than just the grimey and messed up details I notice that, when contrasted with Ghermans rifle, the guideline for BBs weapons seems to have been that they be deformed, jarringly unproportional or distorted. they just dont seem like something sober and functional you would build irl.

The gun in 8:41 is called the Handgonne; you wouldn't see it in the Victorian era because it is the first firearm ever developed for actual military use. And 8:50 is called a Culverin, the predecessor of cannons.

That second cut gun, the one he said he really liked the design of may have been intended to be a hand cannon, y'know like the ZORN-KP in MGSV. And the skull could have been cut and recycled as the Accursed Brew that you get from the Fishing-Hamlet Priest. The design is sort of similar, both being severed heads and all.

Seems like a lot of content that was cut from Bloodborne falls into the "this belongs in Dark Souls" category. About the guns, the first one seems like a normal flintlock musket. It being a sniper would only make sense in a video-game, as real-life muskets have terrible long-range accuracy due to a lack of rifling in the barrels, they were smooth on the inside. The one after Gehrman's blunderbuss seems more like what you'd call a "hand-cannon" which is basically an earlier form of firearm. It'd probably work like the base hunter pistol. Maybe they were going for a more transitional-era look for the game instead of Victorian, with people still wearing armor and early types of firearms. Also, the trumpet-shaped barrel on some of them was more for ease of load than any kind of special ammunition usage.

Just letting you know, the pistol with the string on it isnt actually a flintlock. Flintlocks use flint and a pan to ignite powder with a spark, that is a type of early gun that uses a burning string to ignite powder. Much simpler but less reliable.

Could have been a very simplistic "trick weapon" . The shield is strapped on your back and you fight with the sword normally and can use a gun in the left hand. When transformed you hold the shield in the left hand and can block or parry with it and your regular r1s get a little different. And since people in this comment section are obsessed with pointing out random bullshit about IRL weapons nobody cares about just to sound smart (like above somebody was talking "uuuh hurr durr it's not a rifle it's a musket") I will do that since it seems to get upvotes pretty easily. Just lemme get in a more pretentious way of typing " Well you see , sorry to burst your bubble but that sword's hilt is clearly intended for two hands , therefore your arguement is incorrect, such a trick weapon would be ridiculous."

Great video again, I love to see their design process and things that could have been. Hell, there is almost enough for a second dlc :). One thing that has irked me about the lore. "Shields tend to be ineffective against the strength of the beasts" have they seen some of the enemies in the souls games? They put the beasts to shame, the hunters could of easily created trick shields that did crazy crap. I mean, they somehow made leather attire that competes with the few pieces of actual metal armor in defense. They could of added more shields, but made the gun system more rewarding and possibly countering shields, to discourage usage instead of nearly mocking them. As it stands, you can go without usage of a gun entirely with no issues. I like to run around with one of the two shields in an almost defiant way lol

The first weapon is the flintlock carbine the riflemem use in Central Yharnam and the blunderbuss looking thing the Wheelchair Huntsmen use, and the 2 matchlock guns are used by the fat guys in the Chalice Dungeons.

the first gun was most likely never intended to be in the game but was more a proof of concept for the firearm system, the third one is not a flint lock its a match lock not a flint lock, a flint lock has a striker pan every gun you called a flint lock was a match lock and the ones you didnt are the flint locks.

The first gun is actually in the game. It's the one the rifle-wielding huntsmen shoot at you with. I don't think any of the firearms in this video were intended for player use, and as another viewer pointed out, they can all be found used by various enemies throughout the game.

It's possible the guy from the trailer is wearing armor of a foreign origin, and could have been designed for a starter class. They decided to not give starter classes their own armor sets and items at some point, so there's a chance they worked on it and stopped partway through.

They cut the First Hunter Blunderbus because the boss version instant-parries even if you aren't attacking. They would have needed to make a separate weapon from Gehrman's but still use the same model, and likely didn't want to chance a glitch causing either one to overlap.

All the cut weapons are used in game. The old men in the wheelchair have the first 3, the blundbuss looking thing is used by Gehrman and the very straight looking one is used by chalice enemies.
