Well this was a big one, but finally getting full control of the developer debug camera during Bloodborne's cutscenes and cinematics was something I really had to show! So many strange things and odd effects used to create the scenes we see in the final game, lots of unseen little details throughout. I hope you find something interesting amongst it all!

So with this done, obviously I can also use this free camera to explore any of the main areas of the game as well. Any suggestions what I should check out next? It would be cool to do a bit of a compilation of weird stuff that can't be seen by normal means.

Check out the upper areas of yahargul, specifically the room with the three hunters. I find it really interesting that they used Micolash’s model for Laurence. It makes sense as they’re both scholars, but also... Micolash at one point had the same voice actor as Laurence, and you can hear this in his cut dialogue.

Kyal Jones for me, the most surprising thing is how the scenes are constructed with so many imperfect pieces and yet, become perfectly fine in the actual game when combined and using some tricks of camera. My anxious one inside gets a little bit less anxious. ( Is that sentence correct? The words I used etc? )

I would not say you "ruined" the magic of the game. Quite the opposite. In deconstructing the how the manipulation of the camera and the scenes occur, you're showing us how the art of cinematography works and how it can greatly improve a scene and bring a feeling of dread or awe to the player. This really encapsulates the hard work and effort put into just one aspect of the game's development.

@ChrisWTFern

I've always suspected this, but I feel like this video confirms it. At 13:55 it's really obvious that the viscera trailing the Orphan is the body of another creature entirely. You can see arms, a spine, and a long tail. It actually looks a lot more like Kos than the Orphan does. Maybe that was Kos' actual offspring, and the Orphan we fight is either a surrogate or some kind of parasite. Or perhaps it went through some kind of metamorphosis in the womb and we are seeing remnants of what it used to look like. You saw it from every angle, Lance. What are your thoughts?
@wasdwasd4995
@wasdwasd4995 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah in kos parasite description it states that tiny parasites took kos body and corrupted her orphan. This thing we're fighting is just the parasite who feed of kos and her baby's corpses. This leads to an even deeper question: the parasite have human looks, could the humans be the parasite? Are the humans parasites made by the great ones to destroy the pthumerians?
@dalehantala1115
@dalehantala1115 5 жыл бұрын
I always took It that the hunters who found her were the "parasites", that's why you fight it's In the old hunter's dream.
@user-cn5wb6nr4n
@user-cn5wb6nr4n 5 жыл бұрын
My original thought when I first saw that scene was that those were Kos' bones/viscera being displaced by the Orphan being far too big for her to safely give birth to. Since we fight the Orphan in the Nightmare, which changes creatures' physical forms, I assume that's not what it actually looked like (I think its nightmare form is based on Gehrman, who murdered it IRL) and its new distorted form is so big it eviscerates its mother as it is 'born' - a metaphor for the Orphan's original violent removal from Kos.
@finchwaddledog5026
@finchwaddledog5026 5 жыл бұрын
Knowing the Japanese. Humans are the parasite and metaphorically, that doesn't go as deep as they did in Kos apparently.
@Wveth
@Wveth 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know why people are even considering that it isn't Kos' offspring. It's literally called "Orphan of Kos." The strange crying it does that replicates an infant and then an old man is to show us the orphan's sorrow, which is CENTRAL to the DLC. They wouldn't just make us fight an unrelated creature, while doing everything they could to trick us into thinking it's the most important figure in the story. That would be really, really silly. Its human form could be the result of it seeing so many humans and being in this nightmare with them for so long... after all, it's an infant, so I don't think it knows what it's "supposed" to look like, and things changing shape happens all the time in this setting. Or maybe it's just a visual representation of its sorrow - it's an infant, but they're trying to communicate that it's been around forever and has the weariness of a sad old man. Or maybe a bit of both. I think both of those things are way more likely than From just having terrible writers and completely ballsing up the climax of the DLC. It could be that Kos had multiple children, though, and this one is the only one who survived.

Knowing how the devs created these iconic cutscenes might take away the magic a little, but it only increases my respect for the game makers because they had to do some really creative problem-solving to get the end result.
