this was my girlfriend’s favorite song. even if she’d never told you, you’d know within 30 minutes of meeting her; it was basically ambient background music for her house. This video and the SPINDJ set are permanently burned into my brain. This hit’s different when you grow up in toxic home. The father and son relationship here is agonizing, the childs dead expressions says it all. Growing up in abusive or toxic homes sets childrens dreams and wings on fire. And even when you get out you still carry the guilt. I might be talking out of my ass IMO the lyrics and the video kinda showcase it very well. on one hand the lyrics is a story about a man who's going through a break up, on the other hand the video is the story of a child whose father is raising him wrong. Bad relationship is a two way kind of thing. they hurt each other in the end and both the man(in the lyric) and the father(in the video) accepted it. again I'm probably talking out of my ass so :)

There's no way you can't listen to this while not trying to close your eyes a little and hum to it. The melody is almost like a lullaby, full of irony as it is set that way with such powerful lyrics. The shots are such a big contrast with this lullaby and the imagery of setting on fire is almost as slow, but suddenly the shots add a perfect effect of the hitting words which hurt like shots and then put everything on fire... This is purely intelligent, like every song of theirs ❤️

Perfect music video for the song, I am very impressed. My interpretation Is that its the kid and a father in the video, the father teaches the kid many thinks amongst are many bad habits such as the alcoholism of the father, the kid sits down and realizes that he must "burn" everythint he learnt, the end part Is to interpretation of the Viewer, but since the kid get rid of the mask, he didnt burn His father only Buried the mask of bad habits.

My thought only slightly different, inherited bad habits all that yes just that the song is actually about himself. The pure white figure is what could have been but he choice to let the worst of him take hold let things happen, the kids mask start to charkle a bit in the video as well

my interpretation is that the father killed the mother and that's her ghost we see in the white, he's raising the kid and the kid starts off not really understanding what's happened and goes along with it thinking it's just what people do but learns to understand it's wrong and remembers what his dad did to his mom and taught him to do and so kills him whilst the voice throughout the song is literally the mother who is dead.
