I read somewhere that, despite the silliness of the lyrics, he takes the musicality of it all really seriously. And you can tell. The beats, the bass, the melodies, the rapid-fire vocals, it's genuinely top tier.

The lyrical content was a joke, but the delivery of the lyrics and all... well, most... of the musical portion was just pure genius. And when you think about the lyrics, you have to be a pretty smart guy to come up with a lot of that stuff. "Boom" is a damn masterpiece.

This video should be shown to any kids who are bullied or "picked on" or "teased". Bullying has been around for generations, and won't go away. Kids just have to realize it's not the end of the world, and be strong and get past it. Sarcasm, whit, and self confidence can go a long way to defeat bullying. I was bullied (or teased, back then) for being the skinny kid, or from being from the "north side" (percieved to be the rich side of town by those from the ghetto). In reality, I lived in a modest rural neighborhood on the outskirts of town. Anyway, I quit the soccer team because of being teased about how small I was. (big regret, and I probably thought too much into it at the time) I ignored the bullying when I was in school, right up to the day I ended up in a fight standing up to a bully. Ended up doing some damage to a kid twice my size, but would likely have gotten my ass kicked, if the bus driver hadn't broken us up. After realizing I'd stand up for myself, I was respected, and no longer bullied. This video shows that a bullied kid can survive, and thrive after school, and nothing that happens in highschool will really matter afterwrds.

I got to hear this song growing up as a kid in the 90’s because my dad went out and bought this cd the version before they re-released it with Yellow Fever. I looked up and saw that this song was released as a single but didn’t chart in the US but did so in other countries. I mean I’m sure in the US alternative radio stations played it just not enough for it to chart. If only it had done well on alternative radio it could of than got played on top 40 stations and became a nationwide hit. This song has every potential to be a hit even a possible #1 on billboard hot 100 but shame it didn’t go that way. I would of loved hearing this on the radio as a kid and hearing it on 90’s hits stations as a 30 year old. But shame it didn’t become a hit. Such a genius song.

His voice is still smooth to listen to and the lyrics are very clever. Wonder if all the responses were gathered over the years? 😊
