So, most of my living relatives are Amish. A couple years ago I was visited by 3 of my cousins during rumspringa. I showed this video to them and they thought it was the funniest thing they have ever seen. They made me buy them a "How am I driving" bumper sticker the next day and when they went home they stuck it on my great uncles buggy. I got a letter from them a few months later. Great uncle John thought that was the funniest thing. Don't think for a second that the Amish don't have a sense of humor. Admire the amish for faithfully sticking to their beliefs. Very few of us do. Had lots of fun that week. Love you, Jacob, Isaiah and John.

Amish and Mennonites are actually not the same .... they all belong to the Anabaptists; however, most of the Anabaptist groups would get quite insulted if anyone said that they were branches of each other. Some different groups are the Old order Amish, New order Amish, Mennonites, German Baptists, Beachy, Beachy Amish(yes there is a difference), Schwartzendruber Amish, Charity(or so they used to be called... they changed their name), and many others. Mennonites are the ones I am the most familiar with. Everything depends on the location of the church because rules vary by congregation. Rules can be as strict as "Dresses must be hemmed at 9 inches from the floor" (Yes that is a real rule ...... I don't know why), and "Men are not allowed to wear shirts with print of any kind". Some rules make no sense and are only accepted because they were passed down from previous generations. All Anabaptist groups can tell each other apart by observing the slight differences in the way the women dress. Colors and designs of coverings and dress patterns vary by which group the members belong to. Even the slightest difference in detail would identify someone as a part of a different group.

@Salafi-Jihadi Palestinian Where I live is mostly farmland, small town. Down the road we have several Amish families and they come over sometimes to bring us pies and other foods in exchange for stuff like sugar and stuff we just buy from the store. I told them that a comedian made a song about them and most were open-minded about it. We’re friends I’d say. I give them rides to the store (would take hours on their buggy), they give us homemade goods and food. They pray for my parents (cancer) and my dad blows their driveway in the winter. Good relationship. Years ago I showed them this to get their opinion on it. Simple really. Most laughed, acknowledging their own hard work and we talked about sacrifices they make for the sake of their religion. A lot of Amish people are no different than you and I, they just don’t want to use technology and their faith demands a “Spartan” (barebones) lifestyle. No frills, no fluff. Most don’t even use rubber on their wooden wheels or plows, they deem it unnecessary lol

Amish people have a tradition called "rumspringa" which is where their parents urge them to join normal society for a while so that they can make a conscious decision to join the Amish way of life when they're done. @@jelenav3336 - I think it's a masterpiece because of the way he is walking forward while everything else is going backwards. I am wondering how they shot that. Was he actually walking backwards?

+Marcin Sobczak Same with the buster keaton recreation, all of the stuff they built, made and used, and the actors they got. And Al’s just a cool, talented dude.

The thing that amazes me the most is, he had to mouth the lyrics backward. There's no way I'd get through that without botching it up, repeatedly.

It figures that Weird Al, by all reports one of the most decent guys in the music business, would have the most decent fans! Coolio passes away (R.I.P.) and, almost immediately, the message board for this song becomes full of fans paying their respects. You are a great community, and I'm proud to be one very small part of it.

A friend of mine, who is also a big Al fan, went to see him in concert recently - and also managed to get his hands on a VIP pass so he could meet him, too. He can confirm that whole "one of the most decent guys in the music business" thing.

As a non native English speaker, I can confirm I greatly appreciate the fact that I can understand all the lyrics without concentrating super hard on it. Which isn't the case with Michael Jackson for example!
