The only digital game in the past where I wished really hard for a physical release. It is a bit late but I am glad that there are physical copies even though it is only through limited run games. I preordered 1 copy for the switch, and 1 copy for the PS4.

2:59 Best way to kill the Electric Toads I found on the original for PS3 was to ground dash at the toad, and then press attack before the dash ends. This does an attack that swings low enough to hit the toads. 3:30 If you need slightly more distance or height, Up + attack does an air uppercut which raises you slightly higher and slightly extends the length of your jump.

Nice review. I agree with most of it - especially with chapter 8! I recommend picking up Tux and Fanny by the way. I reviewed it recently and it offers a surreal point and click adventure experience. It's gone by unnoticed, so I'm sure you coverage will help people find a 'hidden gem'.

Reminds me where the Double Dragon 1 & 2 on NES you have to awkwardly jump on platforms. Idk why there always have to be platforming sections in any beat em' ups/Hack & Slash games where most of the time the character's movement aren't design for them?

Unlike the NES Double Dragon games, This one was designed for said platforming & gives you the controls needed for it, though… provided you’re using the analog stick & not the D-Pad.

4:14 Heads up, it really is better to use the Left Analog Stick. While the D-Pad seems better suited at fist, the Analog stick is actually more responsive & gives you better fine control over your jumps using it & movement in general… aaaaand you can actually jump & dash slightly further and faster with it. It also makes doing Rayne’s backflip at a moment’s notice (which is key) & lot easier, as it’s motions feel natural on the stick.

Bloodrayne games have always had wonky controls but that never stopped me from enjoying them. I would give Laura Baileys' voice for Rayne a perfect 20 out of 10 lol. It's perfect for this character 😁. I miss the original Lara Croft voice...

5:39 that’s because you’re using the D-Pad. The game’s controls DO give the fine control & precision needed for its crazy platforming sections, provided you are using the Analog stick. If you us the D-Pad, you’re screwed, because it’s incapable of providing the fine controls needed. This game’s controls were designed from the ground up for the analog stick, as were its levels.

@@SwitchUpYt no prob. I had the same problem till someone a friend advised me to do the same. Then shit became ridiculously fast and frantic, and doing backflips & hopping from enemy head to enemy head lamps and the like became simple & natural.

The reason it takes long (and it's also right on the product page) is because they are put into manufacturing after the preorder window closes. It takes time to put cartridges and discs together, and all the packaging. They are open about this.

The original was tough as nails. Baseline difficulty was really hard as it was, but on top of it it was peppered with some nasty difficulty spiked.

Having watched the channel for a while, wondered if the you lads had considered updating the review system. From what I have seen there are a lot of games that end up with low 80 score (82-84) and at the other end of the scale, a game with poor gameplay /performance but great musical score can and up with an average score of around 50. I wanted to suggest at the end each of you get to add a modifier +/- to the score of up to ten points each way, to help reach a more relevant rating. For example on stranded deep which ended up with 49%, the game sounds much more like a 39%.

It was on PS2 and Xbox originally - came out 2002 (just Googled it make sure!!). I bought the Xbox version and at the time, it looked fantastic, though I think the controls were a bit 'iffy' at times and could cause unnecessary deaths....if I'm remembering correctly;-)

I feel like beyond visuals comparing this to Castlevania is misleading. I know I wanted it to be a new Castlevania when it came out in 2011 but this game is far more frustrating than any classic 2D Vania game ever was.

It basically feels like a 2D fighting game. Lots of recovery frames you cannot cancel out of. If you miss an attack, get ready for punishment from all angles.

Its an old game, it lacks the feeling of the first game that was about killing nazis, the game forces you to chage characters in certain leves and they missed the opportunity to use explorable levels instead of linear ones
