Character idea: Griffin Price, the Invisible Man. A tuxedo with sunglasses floating over an invisible head. Make him like a super spy with gadgets. His dark form is he rips off his clothes and turns completely invisible save for a single pair of tighty whiteys. and his animations become almost impossible to read. You could even set it up so in online matches the player controlling him gets an outline while the other player doesn't. Really nail the whole 'fighting a guy you can't see' thing.

Here's a pitch for a character: Pinocchio The twist is that he's a puppet character who has enslaved the other animal characters from the story to do his bidding and can summon the fox, the cat, Lampwick in the form of a donkey/human hybrid, and a swarm of crickets to do his fighting for him like stands. His stage is a pile of broken dolls arranged into a throne inside the skeletal remains of the terrible dogfish. Maybe you could give him a pirate like aesthetic, with a hook hand and an eye patch. Edit: you could do this with Marionette as well if you wanted

I have other ideas for characters: Samuel Crowe: A farm boy who ended up getting killed along with his family by the Makai. His soul ended up merging with the family scarecrow, and now he guards the abandoned farm, killing both man and Makai his massive gardening scythe. Dulla Han: A knight that once guarded his royal family against Demitri, only to fail fatally. Despite this, he becomes a headless rider, forever chasing after the vampire that took his kingdom and his life.

Some Character ideas for Darkstalkers -Witch Hunter/Inquisitor: I'm talking a completely unhinge religious zealot. Like think Victor saltzpyre Alexander Anderson and the sisters of battle. -Serial Killer/Slasher: we could make them like a fusion of Jason Voorhees ghostface Michael Myers Leatherface just kind of a grab bag of slashers. -Jinn/Genie/Ifrit: look up this fan project called Jin Hunter magical moves and tricky combos -Fae/Fairy monster: I'm thinking like Peter Pan but more like Loki very tricky very childish very troll. It could also be a goblin elf troll -Invisible Man: someone in the comments suggested that he be like a James Bond gadget spy and I think that's really cool - Witch Doctor/Shaman/Voodoo Mage: this one might be problematic at first but I believe that you can do it properly and with respect and distance it from actual Voodoo and such. Here’s an idea for a Universal horror character that hasn’t been introduced to Darkstalkers yet: Billy & Bags, a modernized version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (and named after the original actor under the Universal series of films, William King Baggot). But instead of the split personality being a result of the sane persona attempting to suppress his urges with a special serum, Billy’s dark half, Bags, is a result of an untrained human being sequestered in the Makai. The twist here is that while Billy & Bags do change personalities mid-combat as a stance fighter, it’s not as basic as their posture changing an maybe some wrinkling of their skin or something. Rather, the dark influence on Billy has caused Bags to manifest as a _skeleton_ that pops out of his skin-a literal case of “the evil within.” While their stance system does affect who’s in charge (and whether or not they appear as a human or skeleton), they have attacks where the passenger personality attacks in tandem with the lead. Both sides have a way to manifest during combat, regardless of who’s in control.

Jon Talbain and Donovan as examples are more serious, and less goofy in their moveset, then the likes of Victor or Lord Raptor.

My own new darkstalker character ideas, feel free to add your own: - A native American bigfoot. To distinguish him from sasquatch make them tall and lanky. Then! You make them into hip-hop so you can have his human buddies make that dance circle and you animate the bigfoot dancing like the old 50's cartoons (like cuphead) for the intro/outros, plus this gives more room for the types of moves they could do. - Expanding your banshee idea. Banshee's are from Ireland (my country 🇮🇪) so make her look very pagan and have a personality like Aba from guilty gear (Maybe she's L. Raptors ex, or a groupie that got stood up because he was busy in Darkstalkers 2/3 and he completely forgot, and she didn't take it well) and I'd love for her to have fairy companions for emotional support/characterisation and weapons like Testament from guilty gear. She could play like a close range zoner, using her ghost powers to dodge attacks and her fairy friends to attack, save the screaming for like a super move (I'm imagining something like Broly's mouth beam from dbz fighterz) - Turbo Granny Alien (Something like from Dan Da Dan. People can't tell if he's really an alien or just another monster no one's seen before) a rush down character that can use psychic powers to move characters like with Tagers (blaz blue) magnetic abilities or run on different elevations like with Chipps (Guilty Gear) rope ability.

I'm really like what the Udon comic is doing. The setting is intermittent portals keep opening up between Earth and the Mukai and Darkstalkers and people end up getting stuck in different worlds so we get stuff like monsters having to get 9-to-5 jobs to survive. It's basically a more serious version of _Ugly Americans._

Most of the "training" in the previous days was just those of us entering the tournament trying to unlock as many as they could before the finals, and we were unlocking playable characters well into the final match. That's an example of what not to do both as a game designer and as a tournament organiser.

An idea I’ve had for two new characters who join Anita on her journey to fight Dee Mage: this one is basically me taking that one kid from the darkstalker tv show and put him in with him using his magic to cast wacky spells and alter his body into a cartoonishly buff version for some attacks Inquisitor: essentially a summoner who’s whole deal is that he summons a bunch of fanatic exorcists to fight and I can definitely see their guard being them taking one of their men using them as a human shield

As someone who, when first discovering this channel about a year back now, I watched your old Build-A-Roster for Darkstalkers 4 constantly as someone craving new Darkstalkers concepts, and I still love the ideas you had for that video! But some of the things you thought of for this? Mwah! Wonderful! Also, and I’ve had this idea for a long time, if Ruby Heart was a playable character in this, I love the idea of the DLC having Son-Son and Amingo, and the reason they’re here is because the two goobers either stole Ruby’s ship for a laugh and left her in this world as a prank, or they accidently pushed Ruby off and they’ve been jumping all over the place looking for her. Just imagine Ruby going through her story mode and randomly her ship bursts through a wall with Son-Son and Amingo riding on top.

I offer the idea of rounding out the series' take on the Universal Monster gang and include an invisible person. I know an invisible fighter sounds like a bad idea but I think there are ways they can make it work. I actually drew up my own version of this idea with the character being a spy as a reference to the movie Invisible Agent. I feel like her gameplay can go in a bunch of directions (maybe she's trained in CQC or maybe she uses various sci-fi spy gadgets.) I've also got an idea for a witch character but I haven't fully thought her out yet. With that said, a gorgon would be a fun addition to the roster and the idea of an eldritch horror being the final boss and being a huge fighter ala the giant bosses in Marvel VS Capcom games sounds cool.

Maybe there's a super move that's a counter where the other player realises that they're fighting a coat rack and then gets attacked from behind by an unseen assailant with a knife before they put their hat and coat back on.

You know what fighting game should be brought back? Bloody Roar. Ruby Heart for Darkstalkers 4. In fact, she was going to be a character for the series, but Capcom scrapped that. And thus, she ended up being an original character for Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I think that's how the story goes, anyway.

It would also be really interesting making Darkstalkers more like the Air-dasher Anime fighters and VS games that it inspired So much of the subgenre's dna has a precursor Darkstalkers, and if not there then probably JJBA (Heritage for the Future), that taking elements from newer games would fit quite well, like there are Roman Cancels and Baroque Cancels, I could see Morrigan Gothic Canceling Valkyrie Turn to continue pressure.

Your idea of 3 variations would make perfect sense with Morrigan, funnily enough, as Morrigan's spirit was separated into 3 pieces when she was young, the piece that stayed with her, a piece locked in lord belial which was returned when he died, and a piece sent to a different dimension which became lillith. You could have variations based on those 3 pieces within your concept very easily. Morrigan doing her normal game plan, Lilith herself, and a succubus / vampire hybrid side of Morrigan incorporating stuff like health and meter steal would be interesting to see if what you suggested ended up happening. But, I can also understand your choice to keep Lilith separate from Morrigan given her popularity, and I respect it. In your concept, it would make perfect sense to have them as actual sisters, kinda like what happened to millena and katana's relationship in MK1 versus the rest of the series. Overall, it's a great video, as always. The darkstalkers are not dead in my heart.

Going off the good and bad variant idea the story could follow on from 3 After Jedah weakened the barrier between realities the world is starting to bleed over with the supernatural one . The forces of the Devine realm (heaven) seek vengeance against jedah however they invade Balli realm to find him. This world enrage balli and a war would be moments away from breaking out, knowing neither side would survive they make a deal and sent an agent ( a take on azreal) to observe the world and gift him the power to either spare or destroy it based on his decision. Azreal would serve as the main character being a new pov for new fans and giving older fans a new insight into the returning cast. One scenario is that he encounters talbain who and attacks him think him nothing more then a beast but comes to respect him for his unending struggle and diligence to not let the beast inside win. Eventually evil characters will start attacking Az trying to steal his gift of the decision and other characters will chose different sides depending on how they want the world to be. You could have some very fun arcade endings like BB hood using it to wipe out all monsters which either puts her out of business or wipes her out as well. I know some of the names are spelt wrong sorry.

I’m someone who’s only gotten into Darkstalkers proper in the last year or so, but god I am aching badly for this series to come back and I popped off so hard when this came up for me!!! Because hey, Darkstalkers aren’t dead as long as we keep them in our hearts! Sort of. Kind of. In a good way. Also, if I had to suggest new monsters for a new Darkstalkers, some I’d throw in as ideas would be: the Grootslang (big ol’ snake-elephant cryptid from Africa that would make for a good WTF pick), a Krampus, a Phantom of the Opera, maybe someone in a Kaiju suit, a Garuda or other bird esque monster, and maybe a clown character since they’ve become horror icons now.

Listen, ArcSys is awesome. But, I honestly think the best choice would be SNK. Capcom and them have already gotten friendly again. On top of that, the artstyle they have going on with the yet to be released Fatal Fury, would be perfect for Darkstalkers. The vibrant colors, harsh shadowing and comic aesthetic would blend so well with Darkstalkers.

Yeah, I feel like Arc is a bad fit. Darkstalkers is a game that doesn't need to be made into a needlessly complex game with an overwhelming number of systems. It's at its best as a visually inventive, fast paced, and approachable series that can provide a good entry point to people who want something more meat and potatoes that has additional depth under the hood. The market is flooded with execution heavy games and Darkstalkers' innovations were largely in adding simpler combos and air blocking, meaning that beginners were less punished for jumping and could execute cool moves. I'm not saying that it's not a technical game, I'm saying that it's technical enough and it would be refreshing to have a game that's at a similar level of complexity to the original games.

Capcom, do that! I'm not even a Darkstalkers fan, I like the tradional fighters like Street Fighter and Capcom vs SNK is more plausible right now. But remember your own history. The last time you hit big money with a Street Fighter was Street Fighter 4 and a Darkstalkers game was planned afterwards. You did a Street Fighter crossover with Street FIghter x Tekken and whenever you hear that title your blood pressure raises. Now you have a new bit title with Street Fighter 6,...what are you going to do next? Btw I bought the Capcom Fighting Collection today and I'm trying out Darkstalkers for the first time, maybe I like it. I wanna play as Jon Talbain, because a kung fu werewolf is just the best idea ever. I wonder why there wasn't a schlocky early 2000s monster movie of that kind yet in the wave of Blade and Underworld...

I really enjoy the ideas for a new Darkstalkers game but to throw in a couple of more new characters, there should be based on the modern horror icons of today like stylized off brand versions of Jason, Freddy, Pinhead, Chucky & countless others I could list alongside more usage of mythical creatures like Angel, Leprechauns, Goblins ect, heck go with more folklore like the Mothman or Jersey Devil and heck more characters based on Fairytales like BB Hood, include Fairly Godmother but rising up to be the new Queen Titania or a duo fighter based on Hansel & Gretel, so much potential they could do

@orangeslash1667 Look you're everywhere but please stop being rude, I may love Gunvolt and Gravity Circuit but I don't want to suddenly stop thinking about Mega Man no more, which that's the same feeling I get as a Darkstalkers fan & look Blazblue, Skullgirls & Under Night In-Birth are some of my favorite fighting games but I don't want to suddenly replace Darkstalkers, they should coexist with that series rather than to suddenly stop thinking they exist, your comment is that of a Mario or Sonic fan acting like both franchises shouldn't exist, in fact with that logic, all fighting games shouldn't matter because it should only be Street Fighter

@@videogamerzero1schannel The problem is that Darkstalkers never sold well enough to warrant a new game. Sonic is not a good example because his games sell. Even when Darkstalkers was ported to the Ps 1, it was still outdone by Street Fighter Alpha 3. It's too difficult to change Capcom's mind if Darkstalkers can't guarantee to sell gang busters. Shinji Mikami of RE fame stated the reason he left Capcom is because the company has grown too big, meaning they are unforgiving to under-welling sales. French Bread is a much smaller company, thus Under Night doesn't need to sell as much as Street Fighter.

@@videogamerzero1schannel I think the reason MM 11 was made is because Capcom was desperate in 2016 and 2017, so they needed a low budget action game to save money. Now that Capcom is doing well, they would rather focus on new big IPs, why?? See MM 11 only sold 1.9 million. Thats good for MM standers, but games like RE 7 sold 12. 40 million, Monster Hunter Rise sold 13. 20 million, and DMC 5 sold 7.20 million. MM and DS doesn't stand a chance.

For a minute you gave me hope they had Jon Talbain as a DLC halloween character..and then I saw it's a costume. It's still cool and thankfully not Morgan stuff but it is disappointing. Even if I have the littlest hope that the game may get a sequel. I mean if Fatel Fury could get another game after years of having its cast only appear in crossover games, then I could see Darkstalkers get it. At least like you said a AA game and not Triple A game.

Honestly would have expected you to rehash your ideas from the darkstalkers 4 build the roster, but instead you came up with new ideas for this hypothetical sequel and even some monster pitches which I loved. Honestly, i think making a character based on the metaluna mutant would be cool or some sword of metal monster like in tetsuo or guyver. Could also go with a master criminal inspired by fantomas, cryptids like the flatwoods mobster or sandowner clown, or even a kid with a fearsome critter or ghost protector. Sorry, I could go on for a while
