Another thing that’s so good is to save your tomato skins and dehydrate them. Turn them into powder and add salt, lime, etc… it makes an excellent powder to rim your glass for a delicious Bloody Mary or eggs.

I have now watched and made this and the Roasted Salsa.....both great recipes for our family. Enchilada sauce in next on my list. I do really appreciate you sharing when you use your resources from what you have .....like using your owned diced tomato instead of buying a can. When you share a recipe using what you just canned , this something that I find extremely helpful.....

Bought that book last year, and I liked it when I read through it. Haven't tried a lot of recipes from it, though. Thanks for the pH testing strip link, I've been meaning to pick up one of those. Getting a video from you and from Simple Living Alaska today has made this day lovely! Have you seen it yet? I swear I feel like they are dropping hints that she's pregnant, but maybe I'm just being wild thinking that. I know they said they don't plan on having children, so it's probably nothing. Was just curious what a fellow avid fan of them think that I actually know or feel like I know. haha :D When I get some tomatoes coming in, I might try this! I made a berry preserve syrup/concoction that has been lovely from our fruit in the garden. It's nice in my oatmeal every day. Got 150 bags of soil in today for my raised beds today so I will be BUSY this coming week. I know I'm late planting the bulk of my stuff, but I'm just happy to be able to do it, honestly. The tomatoes I've planted so far have done really well. Squash plants got hit with the squash bugs, unfortunately. My okra plants have done well. Super happy about that, at least. What's strange is my cowpeas aren't producing. I've never not had cowpeas produce prolifically, so don't know if I'm just being impatient or what. We'll see. They probably need more sun, though, and that is my fault with the placement. I need to trim some trees to get my plants some more sun! :D Thanks so much for all you do, Carter! Already looking forward to your next video!

You are so funny, Blue Dahlia! I read this late last night just as I finished watching SLA's video. I didn't pick up on any pregnancy hints, but I did skip through all of the plumbing parts to get to the garden tour. Maybe they were in the parts I skipped? Your berry preserve concoction sounds delish! I have several fruit sauces on my list this year...thinking to give a set of 3 colorful fruit sauces to friends and neighbors for Christmas. 150 bags of soil! Your poor, poor back! Please be careful. Try another round of squash and zucchini now. I intentionally planted mine late this year in order to try to avoid the squash bugs. So far, so good. I have literally only seen 1 squash bug, 1 batch of squash bug eggs (all dispatched) and one vine borer. I didn't see the egg from the vine borer, but I could have missed it. So good to see you, BlueDahlia!

@@growandpreserve maybe I am cuckoo! lol one of the things that piqued my curiosity was the liquor in his drink but not her’s and then Eric says the toast and Arielle adds in to life. I bought some raised beds and they take a lot of bags of soil so had to order a lot of them. Only so much my back will take loading them in the vehicle at a store so delivery route I went. Will start some more squash today. I’m hopeful.
@growandpreserve3 ай бұрын
@@ABlueDahlia Hmmm. I did see both of those things. You are clearly more insightful than I am! We'll see what happens. Glad you got the bags delivered. I did that as well this year. The individual bags are still heavy though. I hired the teenager across the street to carry them down to the backyard and empty them into the beds. Worth every penny!

I core my tomatoes before I blanch and peel. And before freezing as well. I skip the ice water bath and peel when cool enough to handle but still warm. For me, thawed tomatoes are too mushy to handle easily.

I'm not much of a drinker, and never really cared for Bloody Mary's.... .....UNTIL...I had one made with PICKLE JUICE! I'm still not much of a drinker, but there's times when I CRAVE a "Pickled" Bloody Mary. Do you think I could replace the lemon juice with pickle juice instead? Or would/could you add pickle juice in addition to the lemon?

I'm relatively new to canning (only have a couple of sessions under my belt so far)...I have a 23qt stove-top, but buying my Carey 9.5qt electric canner has made all the difference! Ugh. Sorry, Erica! Technology is so not my thing. I was actually replacing my camera, which got knocked over from a 6 foot tripod and could not get the right settings back for the microphone. I do think I'm mostly there now. (Although I may still have that only-one-airpod thing going on again.) Let me know what you think next week.

Isn't it just horseradish, not horseradish sauce? There's a difference. Looked like you used horseradish not the sauce.
@growandpreserve2 ай бұрын
The recipe calls for prepared horseradish. I only buy the plain horseradish because sometimes eggs (in prepared horseradish) don't agree with me, and I need to actively avoid them for a time. Either will work just fine in this recipe.
