To speed up your viewport with compositor effects, make sure you turn on the GPU compostior in Render > Preformance > Compostior

Briefly, clearly, to the point, without water! Everyone should do such tutorials. Thank you very much.

It's still a lot of hassle... then just a tick box... appreciate you doing this vid of course, but I'm personally still not happy with this change.
@GrimbornWolf3 ай бұрын
Well its just a hassle once, when you set it up in your blender default scene
@RemyDrijkoningen3 ай бұрын
Yeah i wish they just keep the checkbox in the render menu and when you tick it it adds those nodes for you. I appreciate more controls but turning what was possible with 1 action into 10 actions isn't progress. Maybe it could like many things in blender be just a checkbox that then let u jump to the node setup if you want "advanced" control
@kylejennings8193 ай бұрын
I totally agree- removing the quick box was such a stupid move. Also the glare node in compositor kiiinda sucks imo compared to the one in properties pannel But like, Nodewranger still doesnt come default enabled, physics still sucks, caustics are way off, geo nodes missing alot still too.
@dallasscandling63293 ай бұрын
Strongly agree. I miss the bloom check box

There must be a reason they’ve moved it to compositing. Maybe to help with render speeds, especially with the added ray tracing? Idk

Wow! Running compositor effects in the viewport in real time is amazing stuff. Way to go team Blender.

Thank you! It works adding glare node in the compositing mode... too! (Active from viewport shading the compositor; always).

Hello Grant, thanks for the Video, are you happy that the old Bloom was taken out of Blender and now has to be edited via the Compositor? The old Bloom was much better and, in my Opinion and I'm certainly not alone in my Opinion, should be firmly integrated into Blender again like in the previous Versions.

This seems like a step back. I've only got a single default cube in my scene and this noticeably drops framerame whilst it's on and I have an RTX2070. This never happened with the old bloom. Edit* Ok it seems like fog glow is the culprit, set the node to bloom and it runs normal. Apparently fog glow runs on the CPU not the GPU. Second Edit* It's not fog glow that was the problem it's that the performance for compostitor effects are set to CPU by default and you need to set it to GPU. Render tab > Performance > Compositor

any idea how to script/batch cook individual animation frames? Blender Animation Render exports individual frames, so i'd like to bloom them all :)

When you render the animation blender will do the compositing for each frame make sure you hook up the output

Hey Grant, I'm new to blender - how did you setup the blue object in the background which looks like a folded sheet of paper. I've seen many people do it but I don't how it's called and how to get this effect.

Bloom in viewport should work without any camera or rendering(like it was on 4.1) as sometimes you just model and check assets before exporting to next app.
@juanX823 ай бұрын
Literally, I can't export the bloom with a transparent background; I can only export it, but I can't get the alpha with the glowing edges. I need it to be transparent because I work with VJing software, and the animations need to have transparent backgrounds.
@Atimo1333 ай бұрын
sincerely, just dont use the compositor if you expect stable running blender, no matter if CPU or GPU I have a high end machine here lagging bc of the compositor

@Robbeddall14 күн бұрын
I can't understand why they have done this. Using compositor in the viewport in real time comes with a massive performance hit. It used to just work. I used to be able to work with emissives in real time. now I can't. Which is a pain in the ass when you working with scenes that have a lot of emissives. bleh. actually, if you set the glare node to use Bloom rather than Fog Glow then the performance hit is minimal.

I don’t like 4.2 so far. Bloom and ambient occlusion on eevee has gone to somewhere.
