What's interesting to me is that this technique is actually pretty easy to achieve without using all these more expensive ingredients... it really just takes experimenting and patience, learning about paint transparencies, what floetrol is capable of, which white paints work for what you are trying to accomplish, etc. I have accomplished these same "cells', so to speak, with several other techniques and the same paint mixtures I use for a simple dirty pour... I think it's crazy that this has upset so many people! The painting is beautiful. I hope the insanity ends soon....

Hi Fanatstic Work. I have a question please, you mix vanish gloss in to eatch color included the background-white?? And how pop up this cell, without silicon Oil?? I saw this video now 3x times i understand all the color points and then the white point color is it with oil, can i made this with silicon Oil in the last color (white)?? and then blow it`??
@EricaHughesArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi! the background white paint has no additives in it (If too thick and wont move when tilting, i sometimes mix in a small bit of water). It is used to move the colors around. Like a "cushion". The small bit of white I put on top of the colors is a mix of AUSTRALIAN FLOETROL and Acrylic White paint. Golden acrylic or amsterdam acrylic paints work best. We call that the cell activator. No silicone is used in any of my paints. The AUSTRALIAN floetrol for some reason, is the only foetrol that will work for the cell activator when doing the bloom technique. Let me know if you have anymore questions. thanks for stopping by!

Just a little info for anyone who wants to get Golden products, download the Joanna fabrics app. If you live close to a Joanna fabrics then it's even easier bc you can usually use a 50-60% coupon daily. I use golden products a lot and they aren't cheap. But if I use a coupon I never have to pay more than 11$. Another tip if you buy online and do in store pickup- which is free, you can wait til the next day and use coupon in store. So say I have 60% off 1 item, I'll order online one item then wait until next day to pick up and use coupon again on something else. And when you think about it in those terms, if I'm purchasing 2 products around 22 bucks each, with my coupons ice saved anywhere from 22 to 26 bucks. That adds up real quick.

Thank you for this tutorial, always appreciate tutorials to compare, your time is appreciated. The science behind this type of pouring ( multiple products in pillow pour particularly) is becoming a nightmare. Financially it’s impossible for many of us to buy them all, secondly they aren’t the same from country to country. The bloom technique is one of the most simplistic of pours that has now been turned into a monolithic science experiment which has in my opinion taken all the fun out of it.

And do you dilute the color extra with something? Another question, how did you touch the pigments, you can not see that exactly? The 2 varnishes that you used for the pouring medium, is that a normal wood varnish and a normal acrylic varnish? A tour is not necessary with this type, is it? Thank you very much.

Hi Jane! No not when using house paints. Burns and leaves a skin on the paint.

Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been wanting to try this technique for a while now. You have a nice uncomplicated recipe I will be starting my journey here. Thank you again for the inspiration and motivation. Love your work!❤️

Hello Erica , my names jane and I’m in Scotland, so nice to have someone nearby who can tell me what works here in the U.K. I’ve just watched a post by Kanella and she gesso a MDf board. I don’t have gesso is normal just white acrylic paint ok to use instead ? .... thanks so much.....

Very nice! Is it possible to use an airbrush in small bursts in stead of blowing?

I think you are awesome. Love it!!! with the house paint. Can I get this in color to use as a base, or is this only recommended for Bloom techniques ONLY? Thanks for sharing

amazing video!! so beautiful!!!!! but when it comes to paints and medium not used how long do they last? or what kind of storage tips? xx

Erica, I’m so glad I watched this video! You are a master of this technique as far as I’m concerned. And you have simplified the technique immensely! Our Facebook is wonderful, but there are new products every day and the process becomes more and more complex and terrifying. I’ll remember that the method is forgiving and remember to breathe before I breathe!! I have so much trouble with consistency in my other pours, that I have made this technique a real challenge before I ever started. Any hints for stretching? That has been my main problem. Thanks again! Oh, I love the cells with the “nucleus” in them!

Hi Erica, when u say use the titanium white paint with water as ur cell activator has it already got silicone in the paint? I’m a bit confused, cld u not just add a drop of silicone to the individual colours? Wld really appreciate a reply 🙏
@nikkimcgihon3354 жыл бұрын
Hi, not Erica! But anyway, I’ve watched loads of the videos , was a bit confused also. So yes just the tit white mixed with water as it does cell on its own. It is sometimes mixed 50/50 with floetrol also. Try both and see what u prefer. White is the densest col so when it’s swiped , moved or blown it sinks lower than the other colour which then show through as cells. Hope this helps. I’m learning too!

I can’t seem to find Amsterdam titanium white for cell activator. What else can I use? I do have the American flood Floetrol. Is that good enough to mix with water?

Erica Hughes what ratio do I use with the valspar untainted and the small bottle of folkart vanish please. Is this a good mix for tube paints only?? X

That is fabulous! Can you store your left over mixed paint and if so how do you store it?

Thanks so much for sharing! Could this be done on a large canvas?
@EricaHughesArt5 жыл бұрын
My video before this was done on an 18x24 inch canvas. I turned out pretty good. I learned a lot and will be trying another one. So yes I believe this can be done on a larger scale. I do recommend, if you have tried this before, to start on small tiles like 4x4 or 6inch. then move up!

@@EricaHughesArt thank you so much! I will check your videos for this technique on a larger canvas. Thanks for all that you're sharing! :)
