New home sales have been 20% to 30% lower for each of last 2 years consistently. And, now someone finally did the math of the impact to GDP?

The discussion is a bit superficial. It doesn't tackle the question why unemployment is so high and has been even during the export boom in 2022 and recent improvements in industrial orderbooks. Real estate in China has been about much more than just for living. It's the main collateral for the country's huge shadow banking sector that has been the main source of financing for SMEs which create the majority of jobs. With real estate prices falling, those SMEs find it hard to finance their operations and have to scale down. Unless Beijing finds a way to massively improve its corporate banking sector swiftly, the private sector will remain troubled.

And this is what united states should focus. I stead putting the kids who are good with math in wall street to move assets around. We should put them in engineering and science and make usa self reliant.

it's time to innovate instead of copying other countries and stealing market share.

@@nicksonsicnawa9607 you mean inferior products of things that already exist? that's not what i meant when i say innovate. Innovation means you create a new industry through r&d and not just copy something that's already been made and then mass produce it cheaply to undercut people.

last time I checked the Brits used the same phrase with silk and tea for the "opium war". The japs used the same phrase of "collective market share" and invaded china then for pearl habour. So the summary is you can go f yourself, propaganda recorder
