We could actually reduce ocean evaporation and the intensity of Atmospheric Rivers by "shuffling" the top 1500 feet of the ocean in the tropics.This would drop the ocean surface by several degrees but require flotillas of pumps in those regions. The last two years of worldwide flooding make it clear that we can't just wait for the reduction of greenhouse gases to make the difference. Pumping from that depth and deeper would provide these benefits: a cooler ocean surface; drifting marine detritus would be brought to the surface nourishing micro-algae and phytoplankton which would turn carbon into a food source; salinity would increase in the surface waters possibly ensuring AMOC's continuation and reducing ocean acidity; eventually, nature might even teach us to moderate the climate for future generations through this shuffling of less than 1% of the oceans water. This is a step with too much potential value to not initiate it immediately!
