In a world where global warming has made food harder to grow while populations continue to rise, what humans plant, where they plant it and how they harvest and prepare it are increasingly critical issues when it comes to adapting to climate change and helping slow its advance. In this episode of An Optimist's Guide to the Planet, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau explores how people from the US to Mexico and Kenya are finding new ways to provide sustenance while protecting the planet’s biodiversity.

Such amazing stories highlighting the strength of even the most challenged populations when they come together. Margaret Mead's quotes.“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Charlot’s story is so inspiring and I hope that more people are inspired to take action like she has despite her tragic circumstances. CEOs especially could learn from her. What an amazing story and person! ✨All the best to her and hope she continues to grow and flourish. ✨

Kenyan woman small business owner is brilliant. Her method of thinking that her consumers come first because eventually it will make her community better, rather than trying to pocket extra money for her own personal improvement. Currently, and thanks to a global pandemic, many businesses across the globe are struggling to operate in a way that will support the 1% while leaning on the 98% of labor force. Not a very smart way to operation an economy, anywhere in the world.

Seeing so many people empowering themselves and their communities to do things that will support one another in whatever way fits their environment best is the most inspiring real-life awareness I've seen in a long time. I needed to know this SO MUCH. There are so many people and groups seeing outside the box, all over the place. HOW INSPIRING!!!

Great stories of nourishment - to be fair, would be inclusive to have one where there is a vegan way of life in the documentary also.

I don't think some people appreciate the interlinkages of an ecosystem. Just because its a desert doesn't mean something has gone wrong -- for example the amazon forest relies on the sands from middle eastern deserts to bring it the nutrients for it to grow....converting those deserts would be devastating.

23:00 - if this place have electricity its much easyer to buy cheap 250$ water pump, make a 60meters down pipe with spec machine, kind of finding oil. and put it on constant pulling water from underground. and itll flow down again, and up. 😊 and itll grow to a green land, trees will give some shadows and water will not vaporate and itll grow more and more 🤗 and that feels nice 🥳👍

Why is the first place using so much single use plastic? The cutlery, plates, containers, bags. If you want to stop the same dumping from happening again and leeching toxic materials into the environment, use reusable items. All of those are made from fossil fuels and you have used it for minutes and it will last lifetimes.
