There might be a chance to avoid war if we sue China for violating the Article 89 of the UNCLOS.

The Blunder by Intel in not using the EUV for which it had paid ASML an adv. of $ 4 billion is an illustration of what happens in the Physics driven Semiconductor Mfr. industry when non STEM ( at Intel 2009 - 2013, then again 2017 - 21 ) or non PhDs ( 2009 - present ) are given the responsibility for making business decisions. Traditional IDMs ( Integrated Device Mfr.ers ) like Intel do both Design & Mfr. of Chips. Mfr, is very expensive and requires disciplines ( Physics, Materials Science & Engr. ) not normally within the skill set of Electrical Engr.s who do the Circuit Design. Which is why since the 1980s Fabless Co.s that do ONLY Chip Design and get their Chip Mfr. done at so called Foundries ( outsourced Specialists in Mfr. ) have grown and now represent 80% of the Chip business. To justify still doing both i,e. Design ever smarter Chips but also mfr. them perfectly even when the Transistors keep getting ever smaller & harder to mfr. the IDM Co. has to do them both well enough to stay ahead of the competition and additionally be able to take advantage of the Synergy of doing both. In these days of fast change in technologies and ever stronger competition, Intel needs to have perhaps 2 co CEOs. For their Fabs a PhD Physicist and / or a Materials Scientist and for Chip Design NOT a EE but a PhD Mathematician ( in these days of exploding AI, designing killer Chips require judgment at the highest level for the best Algorithms & Architecture, rather than Circuit Design by EEs which has become very routine anyway ), For max effect the two CEOs must work synergistically. Note that both TSMC & AMD are led by PhDs, nVidia by a EE w/ a MS from a top U. like Stanford. This is still NOT the case at Intel and it is pursuing an expensive & lengthy plan of trying to catch up in yesterday's strategy, while sadly ignoring its existing asymmetric strengths.

What Biden and particularly his Sec of DoC needs to know is that the most crucial part of the EUV Litho Tool made by ASML, the EUV generator ( in the Video from Min 1:30 to 1:50 ) was invented by Cymer a small Co. in San Diego that became a ASML supplier. Then using the huge $ 4 billion in adv. payment from Intel ( Min : 4:10 in the Video ) that ASML managed to get, it bought up CYMER to create a MONOPOLY in the Litho Tool Supply Chain. The US should demand that ASML divest itself of Cymer and its people in the US.

China is greedy, using its new economic power with America help, NOW China wants to destroy America. China is NOT lije minded democracy. China illegally annexed the whole of South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea preventing passage abd livelihood of Pilipino fisherman inside the Philippine Economic Zone.

Why are the not made in the US? Been on CBS' 60 Minutes a few times with the reporters asking that question. It appears, at a guess, that other parts and countries (not the USA) do value folks that can do technical stuff? The US not paying them to be technical, sounds like, where other places and countries do. I guessing. With 60, PBS, and on and on, in the public mind, that doesn't really care very much, I would guess, maybe more important things on or in the public mind? An IQ test, for the voting public, not to put a popular spin on this innocuous question.

America has to face the truth. As with many other things, China is way ahead of us in chip making. We aren't first anymore, and should pick specific areas to specialize.

People should know that this sovereignty claim by China over 90% of the South China Sea had been debunked by the International Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands, in its publicized decision in 2016. And I find it disgusting that the United Nations Leadership doesn't even admonish China for its violations of the UNCLOS provisions. Is UN Sec. Gen. Antonio Guterres in the pocket of Chinese President Xi Jinping?

I had the same kind of thoughts on a propulsion engine with no fuels, they're experimenting with different forms of energy, sound and vibration, kinetic energy, whatever you want to call it, is just as much a type of potential energy as petrol, it needs to be harnessed in some way, or its useless. sonic cutters.... enough said, you can make use out of any kind of energy for something.

Perhaps zepplins would servicely suffice over the moon, to carry things--move an inflatable habitat lab, a damaged rover to a repair bay/facility, Bags of water ice for processing. Etc. But what to fill the zepplin with, not led, well yes actually-over its radio speakers aboard :) yet the correct amount of helium with someother - heavy gas/find a useful balance that can be increased/decreased for size of lift and ofcourse it would need a docking pylon-or two :) Yet it would use a 1 mild pivoting thruster for mobility.
