I was having dinner in an upper class Indian restaurant in Silicon Valley in 2023 and overheard an intelligent discussion in the adjacent table, the young technocrat seemed to say he was hesitant to fully support new technology which may have serious unintended consequences. Fantastic talk. I did vipassana for awhile. Even ended up at a ten day silent retreat in the Sierra. I can confirm meditation is very difficult and I concur the one precious insight I got from it was how the MAJORITY of our thoughts are arising independent of conscious choice….and how important the ideas we allowed in thru those conscious choices were to our sanity, perspective, bias’ etc. as for the video subject, agree A.I. is likely our final invention and as clever as we are, we are not WISE. Nice try, and if kind of wish it works. I just think it may be flawed in that it assumes that there will be one single AGI or a harmony among AGIs. More likely I think, there will be multiple AGIs which will necessarily compete for limited resources and which will see other AGIs as a threat to their own existence. I think so because theoretically every AI agent inherently develops goals and seeks continuance of its own existence. I guess they would have to be so superhuman that they overcome the cooperation problem described by game theory. 😮
