I’m just shocked and genuinely confused as to why the nvidia ceo would trash quantum computing. Even if it wasn’t blatant bashing, it’s just the fact that I feel like they aren’t even competing against each other so it makes no sense to say anything bad about them. Ai will eventually co exist with quantum computing, they are the perfect couple. The only reason I can think is that nvidia wants to steal investors in the short term from people who are invested into quantum computing for present benefit. I mean don’t get me wrong , I’m absolutely taking advantage of this and buying the dip. But it really does show a very dark side of nvidia. Business is business I guess.

Quantum annealing is not general/universal quantum computing. Nvidia CEO spoke about universal quantum computing and was correct, it's still years and years away from commercial application. Quantum annealing of D-Wave can solve only optimization problems, and is a very specific and narrow application of quantum computing.

Yes however, still, there is a huge market for this as well, optimization. Plus I think the "job" is done extremely fast - see quantum computing. They got to show the world and companies what it is and how companies benefit. However if the gate model is really so far away, hiw come that "other" quantum companies like ionq rock? Would it not be logical that D-Wave should fly high provided its the onky annealing one, which is already usable technology?

I would have to say there’s no way one can explain to people who are not in the field how quantum annealing or gate platform work and for them to know how long it’s going take until we have an effective quantum annealing or gate model. Maybe not even Jensen Huang know how long cause I don’t think he has the time to learn Shor's algorithm, Grover's algorithm, and all other quantum algorithms and how to do gate with photonic qubit or with trapped ion qubit, etc. The people who have the ability to understand the most are physicists, yet some physicists still say things such as topological qubit that’s supposed to be more stable isn’t an easy thing to understand. I always wonder how the salesman sell the product.

Quantum annealing finds the minima of a function. That's it. They are not building a general purpose computing device. I think a lot of retail traders are confused and think this is the thing that will break cryptography, etc. It has extremely niche application and you can see that in their revenues.
