Blooming Onion in an Air Fryer

I’ve done this before air fryers. Poach the onion after cut in beef stock with lots of worstershire then dredge spay with non stick and bake. Poaching is key. Otherwise you’re eating a dusty raw onion.

Soak the onion in cold water for 20 min and it will open up a lot more

Alternatively, put an onion between two cutting boards of the same height. Cut the onion as many times as you want, no need to remove the center. Wet the onion by dipping it in water and moving it around, dont use a batter. Coat the wet onion in your preferred flour/spice blend. I like Cajun with extra paprika and garlic. Then deep fry it. It will be crispier than a batter and will reheat better too.

To be fair, you didn't put much oil. Drizzle, or wipe a good amount of real oil on if you want an air fryer to be comparable to deep fried on certain things
