Yeah, but he's talking about life. For one, without the sun, it'd be too cold for anything to grow. Second, algae and plants that create oxygen from carbon dioxide. Also, photosynthesis requires the sun. Heat from the sun is what created fossil fuels. The earth could exist as a rock, but without the sun, there would be no life and the earth would become a lifeless rock.

Hermit574 - The heat in the core of the Earth is only what's left from the creation of the solar system. So the sun is responsible for the heat in the core of the Earth. Eventually the core will lose its heat.

Okay so everyone was debating this so I actually looked it up cuz Im not a Neanderthal. The Earth is power by two main sources: The Internal Core (geothermal heat) and The Sun (solar radiation). The Sun is most of it (not sure the percentage). If Jake’s trying to say “Solar Power doesnt power the earth, most of it is burning fuel and electricity.” Then i get what he is attempting to get at.

Trees are also sun storage. When you burn a log, the fire that results is essentially the light and heat of the sun that went into it during photosynthesis. I'm getting this info from 'Richard Feynman - Fire'. It can be found here: watch?v=N1pIYI5JQLE

amir is actually not wrong here. it’s often theorized that life on this earth couldn’t exist the way it does without the sun. we depend on plants that grow because of the sun. even when we’re not using solar power to generate electricity, we’re burning fossil fuel made from life from millions of years ago that all depended on the sun. so actually, amir’s rash statement, while not in the way that he thinks, is true.

LIFE exists because the sun exists,it is because the earth was that one planet which was (and is) at just the light distance from the sun.You think coal and other fossil fuels power the earth? Think again, where did they come from? Plants.Where do plants receive their energy from?Oh yes, that big giant ball we call The Sun
@XxConnorsMusicxX11 жыл бұрын
But it doesn't power the earth, if I kept a plant in a plant pot, then didn't let the plant get any light the plant would wither, that doesn't make it a light powered plant pot.

I disagree that the sun powers the earth because it doesn't but the sun is the 1 reason the earth even exists, without the gravitational field holding the earth in constant rotation the earth would be a dust cloud. So in a way, he is correct, the sun does power the earth. Not directly though

Actually the sun does power the entire earth, except hydroelectric and geothermal facilities, which are relatively few in number. Coal and oil come from remains of organic life, which got its energy from the sun, like all organic life does. Solar power, of course. Wind power comes from differences in pressure in earth's atmosphere created by the sun.

hey listen, do you have any idea what you're talking about? do you have any knowledge base(sound or otherwise) regarding astronomy? if you want to argue,better prepare well The planets, asteroids,comets particles ranging from tiny to huge(like jupiter)have come FROM the sun.Refer to the evolution of solar system and its precise mechanism.Not ONLY the earth has come from the sun, every single thing that happens here can be very clearly traced back to the sun and it being the only source of energy
