this song takes me back to 1980..... High School Choir - the bell would ring and we would continue singing through the halls ... I'm 54(!) now, but as I sing it seems like yesterday :-)

Anybody here other than because they sang it in choir? That's why I'm here, and all the other comments seem to say the same.

Read this as part of English Literature in 10th grade in 1997.. 22 years later I still remember it.. such is the writing of Shakespeare.

Fantastic performance! The treble voices' unison is as good as it gets--pitch perfect and everyone singing the same vowel. My first Ritter was the Gloria at Colorado All-State choir in 1981. I've been in love with Ritter's music ever since.

How could anyone ever give this a thumbs down?! It's a beautifully played and well sung piece. It deserves every bit of respect it can get. People worked extremely hard to make this. It's fantastic.

Ironic isn't it? The song is about how the winter wind isn't as harsh and cruel as the ingratitude of mankind. They just proved it.

I've loved this piece for years, ever since I sang it in college choir. I've always heard it as a choral piece, until now. It feels even more wistful as a quartet, more personal ... wonderfully done. Thank you.

Our church is performing this and the music director is playing piano as part of a string quartet (he has arranged the strings). We hired 4 fabulous singers from the University, so as church chorister, I get to direct. Only one problem - I'm not a trained director. Wish me luck.

Blow, blow, thou winter wind,Thou art not so unkindAs man's ingratitude ;Thy tooth is not so keen,Because thou art not seen,Although thy breath be rude.Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly:Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:Then heigh-ho, the holly! This life is most jolly.Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,That dost not bite so nighAs benefits forgot:Though thou the waters warp,Thy sting is not so sharpAs friend remembered not.High-ho! sing heigh-ho! unto the green holly... The lead/highest part is for the weak. Sing the Alto or Tenor part of any Eric Whitacre song and only then you'll feel the true pain of Glow and Fly to Paradise. Also Hymn of Axciom. *winky face*
