I miss the warm embrace of my mom and dad hugging me on Christmas when I was 7 years old, they passed away in a traffic accident when I was in 9th grade. Every Christmas I miss them more than usual. I'm 60 years old. This music takes me back to when I was about 7 years old. My father was an alcoholic so it made it very tough for my mother with 5 kids. There was a Methodist Church that put on a Beautiful Christmas dinner with candles music and Beautiful dinner settings. We were invited to be there. I can remember how special it made me feel and have always thought of it each year.

Years ago my best friends son resorted to using heroin after a severe back injury, he was breaking into businesses & was arrested. After 1 year of his prison sentence he availed himself to all the help & rehab programs they offered. He's now a very stable, hard working young man with a wife and children. I am brought back to Christmas carols Every year and when I need calm and some hope. I am not religious but celebrate Christmas in our own families way, treating it as a time to realise how important and special we are to each other. I have precious memories of carols, singing in the concert for school, listening to them as we all prepared the sprouts and potatoes in the kitchen, and now i am a father, listening to them after my son has fallen asleep on Christmas eve night when all is quiet and full of my sons excitement. These carols, the wonderful voices, the words, leave an indelible mark on me, even a subconscious love for the music, and on many other people, and hearing them has a profound impact on your heart any time of the year whether they have faith or not. i hope they stay with us for ever in this changing world.
