She is so blessed to have such beautiful, thick hair! And the stylist also did a great job! Her hair look amazing! Motivation that a relaxer isn't needed to have straight hair.

@numeroff The brush we use on a majority of our clientele is the Spornette Boar Bristle Round Brush item # G-36. It is 2" in diameter and we have found that it gives the best results! As for the blow-dryer, the stylist uses a RUSK Speed Freak® Professional 2000-Watt Ceramic Dryer when blow-drying both Katia and Alisha. I hope this helps!

Im an avid QVC watcher and watch most of the Wen shows. I started buying about 10 or 15 years ago when I had a relaxer. My hair was dry and brittle. Wen changed all of that--QVC introduced me to it. When I became natural, I kept using it. Cucumber and Aloe is my FAVE. Had always wondered how the girls hair had been styled and up until the end of the vid, I didn't know it was Katia. Then I was like I know that face! Thanks for the vid, I will be trying this. Great job!!!

This video is going to make a lot of people with the more fragile african textured hair think that they can put their hair through this process and get away with it on a regular basis. Before you respond with hate comments please read entirely. This is in general and there are exceptions: I love Chaz but he forgot to mention that Katia has mixed textured hair. She has light complexion, semi-caucasian facial features, and softer textured hair which is very common but not exclusive to west indian and other mixed people like Brazilians, Dominicans, Haitians, etc. which is slightly less coarse than most pure african type hair. Her hair is stronger than very tightly kinked type 5 hair which is very delicate, brittle and more prone to damage from this type of constant styling. Not all African American or African type hair is the same. So in response to " "engotaku", yes, the more mixed you are with other ethnicities with less brittle hair types, the more your hair texture will differ from some of the other sub-saharan pure African hair types. Some people inherit stronger textures, some weaker which is partly why some are able to grow hair very long, and others not past a certain point. Abusing your hair and not properly conditioning, and bad nutrition are other reasons. If you analyze different hair types under a microscope, more delicate African hair has a more porous and jagged cuticle than Caucasion or Asian straighter hair. Katia has great hair, but it does look like maybe a type 4b so she should continue to alternate her hair style natural sometimes and straight others to give her hair a chance to rest and remain healthy. Women of color, and all women, please take care and use caution not to over style your hair. Not any amount of Wen will help you if you abuse your hair by over straightening with a blow dryer or any heat tool. Ladies, I hope this helps :-)

Wow Chaz! Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to do this video! I was always told that using a brush on damp hair was a no-no. But, I didn't see any breakage during the process and Katia's hair looks extremely healthy and full of body. I am going to practice this technique and kiss my flat iron/curing irons goodbye!
@wenbychazdean13 жыл бұрын
@luna23255 The blow-dryer the stylist uses is a RUSK Speed Freak® Professional 2000-Watt Ceramic Dryer. This is his preferred blow-dryer when blow-drying both Katia and Alisha. As for the setting, full heat and full power! I hope this helps.

Thanks for this video! I have natural hair,and didn't see how it was possible to blow dry without flatironing after. I watch Chaz on QVC say it all the time but its good to see it.

I am a 4a/4b mix and have had blowouts that look like this. The difference was the type of brush used and probably the length in time. When it was done with me a boar bristle brush was used with shorter bristles.

The best solution for split ends is to use the remoist once a week and the nightly treatment oils 2-3 times a week. Split ends happen because the hair is lacking moisture and nutrients. The most moisturizing and nourishing cleansers are the Fig and the Six Thirteen. The Spring Gardenia is hydrating as well but the Fig and Six Thirteen have more nutrients catering to dry, brittle hair. The brush used is a boar bristle brush available on our site.

Hi Jacqueline, Chaz uses the Super Solano 1875 professional blow dryer
@wenbychazdean13 жыл бұрын
@user897523 Hello again! The brushes that we use here at the salon are very gentle on the hair. They do not have any metal or ceramic, so they will not cause damage to any type of hair if you keep the heat of the blow-dryer continuous and not held on one section of the hair for a prolonged amount of time. For your hair, I would recommend starting out with the Fig product line. The Fig is the most hydrating and will give your hair the moisture it needs to be healthy, soft, shiny and manageable!

This was a great video, thanks for sharing. I've been using wen for about 5 or 6 yrs now & still just as excited as when I 1st started using. The only thing that bothers me about Chaz's models Is the fact that none have hair in the middle of their backs after he blows them out. He hasn't sold me on that one yet. I still get a mild relaxer (affirm) every 6 or 7 weeks & with the help of Wen, a curl activator & diffuser my hair is now in the middle of my back. Black hair is too fragile for a brush.

Beautiful! But will it last? After my blow dry, my hair would revert by the end of the day.
@wenbychazdean13 жыл бұрын
@Akewataru133 You can either substitute it for the other cleansing conditioners, mix them, or alternate with them. They do not need to be used exclusively. Six Thirteen is more treatment based because the ingredients make it incredibly hydrating and restorative - much like a hair treatment would.

@kg252514 As stated in the video, both a leave-in and styling creme (heat protectant) were applied to the model's hair prior to styling. If you take a blow-dryer with a nozzle and allow the hot air to touch your skin while keeping the blow-dryer continuously moving, you will see that you can feel warmth, but it does not burn. We would never compromise the health or integrity of someone's hair and have found that this is the absolute healthiest way to style the hair straight without damaging it.
@misskitty3085811 жыл бұрын
She doesnt need a relaxer. Everyone does not want chemicals in there hair. All she need to do is wrap her hair at night. wrapping it will keep it smooth until she is ready to wear it curly again.

@kg252514 Her hair was no way shape or form "soaking wet". You can tell in the beginning that it had been air dried and only the ends were a bit wet. I have the exact same hair texture so I know how it looks when it is soaking wet. And there is steam because there is some presence of water, no necessarily soaked hair. Its better for her hair to be about 85% dry and then blow dry. Because if you blow dry on dry black hair, it will break. They took all the right steps, and had great results!

@verizonsdoll Hello again! The Pomegranate is more hydrating than the Sweet Almond Mint, so it would definitely be great for you to use. However, you will always want to use the Fig as well because it is the most hydrating. The Body Cleansing Creme can only be used on the body and will not cleanse and hydrate the hair.
@wenbychazdean13 жыл бұрын
@Akewataru133 Fig Essential Oil. The SixThirteen Daily Cleansing Treatment is a treatment based cleansing treatment designed to provide hair with moisture and hydration. It is more of a treatment based formulation because it has ingredients such as amino acids and peptides. I hope this helps.

I have purchased the entire system under multiple orders and specials. My hair is stronger and started filling in all the areas of damage from years braids and weaves. But I still cant get the straight style I so desire, isnt there some type of perm this model have? I remember reading it somewhere and how to do

@betegamb In order to get a smooth, sleek finish, you'll want to make sure that your hair is still fairly damp. In the video, hhe is applying the leave-in and styling creme to her hair just after it was cleansed. Because your hair is so unique, you can try blow-drying your hair starting from soaking wet and then attempt another time starting in with the brush after you have used your fingers and the blow-dryer until it has dried 75% of the way. See which results you like best and go from there.

Hello Chaz! I am about to try your product for the 1st time tonight. Totally elated... Hoping for the best experience. I have long, 100% natural (tightly curled) hair... my texture is MUCH coarser than hers. Can I expect my hair to "behave" with just a blow dryer? I'd love to be your model if it turns out right! I'd have a story to tell... :)

Hello! I am trying to perfect this technique and I was wondering how much moisture should be left in the hair? I am African American as well but I do not have the cute crinkle type curl the client has. My texture of hair is more fine with very loose waves mixed in. How much moisture should I leave in my hair before using this technique?

Her hair is either extremely wavy or heat trained. Because African American hair is wayy more kinky and coiled.
@kylelawrence812312 жыл бұрын
this texture of hair is very similar to South Africans of the "coloured race hair" here is a helpful tip make sure you would use a really good quality blowdryer with a narrow nozzle as seen on this video also a good quality round brush as seen in this video. ALWAYS use a heat protector when applying this amount of heat on any hair. and make sure to take thin sections to avoid and pumps or kinks in the hair

There are lots of AA people with hair something like her's but there are LOTS with hair that is extremely coiled and or extremely kinky and shrinks up when wet. The hair just curls right back up on it's self often after detangling. How do you do this same technique on hair like that? I only ask bc you titled the video Blow dry AA hair as opposed to medium curly or wavy hair. If her head was turned at first glance most ppl wouldn't have thought her hair typical African American Hair.

@foxylady242 Hello there! Though you would still benefit from using the Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner, the Fig Cleansing Conditioner is our most moisturizing formulation. Because your hair is damaged, you need as much hydration as possible to keep your hair healthy. That is why you would benefit most from using the Fig formulation. I hope this helps!

Hello Mr. Dean, I have few questions about your products. The bath, body, & hair oil mainly contains jojoba oil but the ingredient list includes the term "essential oil". However there plethora of oils that considered to be essential oils. What other oil besides the jojoba are in the mixture? Finally, how does your Sixthirteen compare to your other WEN formulations? Specifically for a African-American growing out a relaxer for one year? I currently use your Fig formulation line.
