You are a dam genius! Followed your instructions on my '14 Ram. Found a piece of plastic also.My fault. When I installed the cabin air filter, a small piece must have fallen down into the squirrel cage. 10 minute fix. THANK YOU!!

Thank you so much! I have dreaded repairing this for years. Just did mine today. It would really groan when the fan was turned on high. It had a 3/4” molded piece of rubber causing it to run out of balance. Thanks again man you are an example of a true American craftsman/technician/mechanic!

awesome vid! Pretty sure I have a mouse building a house also. I let my truck sit for about month without touching it. The weather is getting colder (Nov-Dec) and I noticed an identical noise as to what you've recorded. Also I can smell urine, wonderful. I can't see how a mouse is getting in though. All my trims and leaf guards are tight, no holes and not a rusted out truck. 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm assuming the fresh air intake is in/near the wiper assembly and rain tray ? Any way, great vid. Enjoy the Holidays!

Thanks for the video.Had a massive vibration on 5 or above fan setting on my 2011 GMC Terrain although it worked vibration on higher speeds was horrendous. Through your video plus one that deal specifically to my vehicle, turns out I had a huge acorn in the blower wheel , glad it wasn't a rodent.One question I do have you all make it seem there is a lot of room to work in this area I found it extremely tight and hard to work in and reach the screws/bolts. Did you all lift the vehicle to perform the removal and cleaning or something else?

i have a 2002 dodge ram that blower done same way except the noise would quit on its own, then start again at diff time..it was doing it and finally just shut off...think blower moter burned out??..also fan knob only worked o high same way..sometimes it worked on all speeds, sometimes just high..would that be resistor?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 жыл бұрын
There is a chance that the blower motor and blower motor resistor may have gone bad. It will require checking the blower motor to see if 12 volts and ground is present. The most common cause of a blower motor resistor going bad is a blower motor going bad and drawing too much current. Make sure to look at the connectors at both items to see if there is no damage. Thanks for watching Shawn and make sure to subscribe

Shawn Sizemore When ever I replace a blower motor resistor....I do the blower motor as well. Learned over time that's the best thing to do. The time I did just the resistor....it would eventually come back bad again and then I would replace the blower motor....now I do it at the same time as the resistor.

I have an 02 1500 and I have replaced the resistor. Thought the blower motor was to be good... It only blows on highest setting intermittently. Sometime recently it has malfunctioned and the wore plug has actually burned. I may need to replace the plug that inserts to the blower motor itself as well as blower motor and anotber new resistor.

My Moms truck 2003 ram, mine looked same, pink fiberglass & oak tree leaves. cleaned out worked great. 2 days later same problem took motor out same mouse got in again I took out whole cowl vent so I can add some window screen but holes in vent are too small for mouse to get in, 1/4" x 3/8" maybe so only thing I can think of is wipers holes have rubber flaps, maybe he squeezes in there or where ever the drain is to let rain water out ? I'll get out my bore scope & see what I see. thx for video :)

From where are these things being sucked up into the blower motor? Can screen or hardware cloth be installed to keep debris out?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 8 жыл бұрын
+RickRock318 most of that debris was from a small mouse making a nest. They love to get paper from the glove box or insulation from the hood liner. Largest area to get in at is at the recirc door inside the cab of the truck. It's rare to see it this bad but it happens. In this customers case.....a mesh over the recirc door opening probably would help for when the mouse returns. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe

Hey there! You seem like you are fairly knowledgeable on this topic of AC/Blower Motors. I have a question: I have a Jeep and one day I turn the AC on it’s working-cold air is circulating etc. but I hear a loud noise coming from the glove compartment as the AC is working. When I turn it down less noise and up louder noise and when I turn it off -no noise. It sounded like something stuck/lodged into some type of fan. I ignored it for about a week and thought maybe whatever it is will go away. Yesterday I went to turn on the AC and no air coming out at all in the front of the car. The back of the cars AC is running perfectly and noise free. Any idea what could have caused the AC to quit blowing air out entirely now? Could it be so clogged up that it’s letting no air come through? I think I will have to take it apart and look at the Blower motor. Any thoughts about this? Thank you so much 🙏🏼

Sounds like the bearing failed on the blower motor and now it wont move. I recommend removing the front blower motor and trying to spin it by hand and see if the bearings are noisey/rough.

MotorCity Mechanic So, thus far I have removed the glove box and the cover leading to the blower motor and I gave the motor a tap without taking it out yet and boom the AC was up and running. This will be a temporary fix as I have work but when I get home in a couple of hours I will pull the actual motor out and inspect it to see what the problem is. So far that one tap has kept the motor turning since this morning, Do you think the motor itself is failing slowly? PS. Thank you for your response

+Mark Wallace what you most likely found was the recirculate door that is normally directly about it. It's very common on the 2006 models for sure. Obviously it can happen on a 2004 as you have found. Glad you found the cause......now it's a matter of if your wanting to replace the recirculate door/housing. It not being there won't causing any big issues but in the summer it will not cool as well as it should. Thanks for the update
