Thanks Arowe! Blue glass is the best. I heard from another glass blower that if you want to sell your pieces, either make them move or make them with blue glass. All the best! Sim

Awesome video! I'd love to know if that goes into an annealer or what the process is from there? I have a hard time understanding why some pieces need to get a kiln cool down and others seem cooled off to the point you could walk away and use it... Thanks!

Ok I’m just gonna put it out there I’m 45 and I been smoking for umm 4th grade was the first time that I may a conscious decision to smoke. But knowing my parents I have been smoking since I was in the womb! Until I stumbled across this video trying to find out the best way to use a glass taster I had no idea why they called it blowing glass 😢 wow and I call myself a pothead!!! Either way I took a couple rips off the taster while you tube played I looked up just in time too see you put the tray on the taster! I was hooked I watched all the way to the end of the Gandolph pipe. Not sure i even blinked FR! I’m enthralled I gotta fucking do this that’s all I know.! And bro thanks you rock! Great tutelage fine craftsmanship

Hey! Thanks so much for the kind comment. It's awesome when people let me know that they find my videos interesting and helpful. The first time I saw a concentrate taster was a year ago when my friend brought one over. Before that, I never knew that type of smoking pipe existed. It's crazy how much the smoking industry has changed and the smoking devices have gotten so advanced. All the best! Sim

Would this shape work in a smaller scale say maybe half the length of this? Interesting thought will definitely try this method to make my next Sherlock!

Hi Emiliano! Yes you can definitely make this smaller if you want. I love the look of the long pipe. Send a photo when you make it, yourok@thefusingshop.com

Your channel has been really informative, thank you for what you do. Ive yet to get into the practice, but i have a cart full of everything i need, just waiting to pull the trigger. When attaching a blow tube, does the thickness matter? As in, if im using heavy wall tubing for a piece, should the blow tube also be heavy wall, or will any thickness serve the purpose?
@FusingShop
@FusingShop 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Kylotode! Thank you for your kind words. To answer your question, yes the thickness matters. You want that seal between the two pieces to be even and smooth. If the glass is too thick or thin, it will stress the glass and can lead to cracks or the piece shattering. Looking forward to seeing your work when you're up and running.

Hi Great videos I am hoping maybe you could help me out a little :) About how many hours of run time do you get out of a full K tank of oxy
@FusingShop
@FusingShop Жыл бұрын
Hello WBG! I wish I had the answer to your question. The truth is that I use an oxygen concentrator to refill my K tanks when they get down to 500 so I never use the whole tank. Maybe someone else can chime in here with more information. One thing I can tell you is that when I give lessons and have two people working for about 3 hours, they can use 500 on my tank. I would guess if your tank was full, 2,000, then you could get about 20 hours of oxygen give or take.

dumb question two, why is it wrong to make those thin glass stringers...dangerous??
@FusingShop
@FusingShop 4 ай бұрын
Definitely dangerous. The thinner you pull the glass, the weaker it becomes. This often means it's so thin it snaps into micro fragments which can get into your lungs. Plus thin glass can give you nasty, painful splinters. Hope this helps. Sim
