Map gas Burns at 3600°F. I have blown bowls, incense burners and connected tubes the Exact same size you were using. Just pull away from the flame a little bit to the tip and get to the hottest part of the flame So be nice, make a follow-up to that video and let people know that just because you don't know doesn't mean it can't be done. Don't discourage people. Better tips and oxygen can be added to those torches to do what needs to be done. Hopefully you can take constructive criticism without getting your panties in a bunch

Aww man I just found your channel the other day and this video says you are kind of local to me so I was going to come on down that way. But then I saw a pop-up that said night be closing. I accidentally closed the pop-up so I missed the date. Are you still open? I hope so as I was going to get into lampwork :( hope all is well with you and yours.

Hi! Welcome to the channel! I was doing a lot of teaching in 2021 up until 2023. The lessons were taking too much time and energy so I'm taking a break from teaching. I'm not sure if I'll re-open the shop for lessons but if I do I'll be sure to let you know. There's nothing like getting hands-on experience and having someone at your side to help refine your techniques. You can always reach me via the comments here or by email, [email protected] All the best! Sim

What is the best "budget" kiln for a beginner making small pipes and pendants?
@FusingShop2 күн бұрын
Hi! I would recommend trying to find a used kiln on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. There are usually a few people with glass equipment for sale at really good prices. I bought my current kiln off Craigslist for half the retail price. Find a small kiln within your budget and search around. Bead kilns are good for small pipes and pendants. All the best! Sim

Another useful one is to use effervescent denture cleaning tablets. Just fill up your pipe with warm water, use a wad of paper to block the pipes so it holds water, and drop a couple of false-teeth cleaner tablets in. They are designed to get tobacco, coffee and wine stains off pensioners teeth, they shift a bit of old rosin like nobodies business. Then just a quick rinse with water, a final finish with clean iso and you're factory fresh again, even the most complicated turp-slurper or diffuser. Cheap and non-polluting to dispose of too.

@FusingShop no worries. I have a real hate for dirty glassware. You don't see wine experts sipping expensive Bordeaux from old pickle jars that they polished on their t shirt but people still toke from pipes that look like old diesel engine sumps.

You don't know where to put the glass into the flame, I have (actually blown) thousands of pipes, with the bernzomatic ts8000, you didnt blown anything. You have no idea where the hottest part of that torch is. Yeah you can put the glass right up to the torch tip with an oxypropane, but not with that. And the angle of the glass to the flame is crucial, I can get the hole to the size if a pinhead of 12 mm glass withing 30 seconds, when it's in the correct spot, the swirl at a specific spot the flame quickly begins to closes it, but I like to use colored rods to fill the tiny hole to close it off and then blow a bubble. I sometimes take the colored rods and do swirls around the tube, before I blow it up, cause it looks cool with the colors blowing up with the tube all stretched😊

You should make a video on how to use a torch like this
@FusingShopАй бұрын
That would be awesome! I'd love to learn how to maximize the use of this torch.
@sahilsquadron22869 күн бұрын
@@FusingShopI melt around 20 grams of silver or gold etc with this exact type of torch as its easier than testing the oxy every time I need to melt a smaller amount for jewellery, I also use this torch to harden smaller steel parts, the hot part of that torch is the inner light blue flame just like on an oxy bro, that particular torch will get suffocated out if you hold it straight on to something you're heating really closely, instead angle the torch and push it in closer so the flame has somewhere to shoot out the side and still draw oxygen from the other side. I've found with this torch it likes to push hot air and probably unburned gas etc around where the air vents on the torch head are so adding an air vent extender away from the torch tip may help it draw air and get in closer to the job without snuffing itself out. That's my biggest issue with those torches as I can get a few millimetres away from the object I'm heating with my oxys but not with this unless I angle it at around a 45 degree angle to what it's heating.
@sahilsquadron22869 күн бұрын
@@FusingShopalso keeping the bottle in warm water while working is another good idea with torches like these as they tend to freeze the gas inside after some use like an LPG tank and will start getting a colder flame or even sometimes splutter themselves out
